The tag is HIDE-REPLY not HIDE-FROM-MY-ARBITRARILY-DEFINED-LIST-OF-WISHES-AND-DREAMS.
You tried to shoe-horn it into being something it very specifically wasn't and cause very predictable results by doing so.
It's explicitly to force a reply before they can read what you said, not to prevent people from seeing it unless they meet your personal idea of worthiness.
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.
