Am I a bad person for feeling pretty disappointed that Arcadius didn't die? I mean, he sunk into fking lava and not even his hair got burnt. It'd have made way sense if they were fighting the Acid guy.

Not really.
Either you accept it as fantasy and take it that falling into magical lava isn't necessarily instant death, or you want to take it as realistic, in which case EVERYONE in that room would have died near instantly from the heat and fumes.

Real lava has temperatures >700C. You're pretty much fucked if your body temperature goes above 40C~45C. and everyone in that room was within a couple of meters of the lava. If it was real, they all had seconds to live, the guy casting the spell included.
