I know that I play 4-5 characters on a whim, so instead of paying $3*15 = $45 per time I make that choice could get me ~3% str each time on my tradeable eqs.
When I play a Kaiser, I'll have over 100% str at no cost. That's worth something to me.
If Nexon ever rebalances the prices of SoKs, then I'll re-evaluate the situation.
FWIW the worst case of this IMO is untradeable skill books. They're not usable on 95% of classes, so you need to bring 12 different people to not waste them (or pay for SoKs)?
That's not much of a good comparison, really. It took me several months, even years, to get equipment I wanted for my Viper and warriors that totaled ~40%ish STR that I could move between my characters. I since moved to Empress gear, which, when clean, provides a significant boost in damage. I can't move that gear between my characters at all, unless I wanted to drop my entire paycheck from google into Nexon's pocket because I decide I want to enjoy another part of their game. The gear is very expensive and it has a staggering difference between other gear, even just 10 to 20 levels below it. To make the most use out of it, though, you have to spend a walloping amount of money on upgrading it, then even more on transfering it to other characters of the same class type you want to play.
I mean, in the case of Empress gear, it's kind of understandable; it's pretty much the ultimate gearset at the moment (except for level 150 gear). In the future, when they come out with better gear, however, which is pretty much inevitable, it's going to become unnecessary. However, when it comes down to taking into account how much money you've spent on trying to upgrade your gear to a satisfying level, you're not going to want to shell out even more money to use it on another character.
I completely agree with skill books, though. It's a horrible system.
I also find it extremely obnoxious and irritating that every single item that gets implemented nowadays that's even worth looking at is untradeable. There's no reason for that. >_>
