Maybe you don't realise this. But selling your console at a loss is actually the standard. Even the $600 ps3, was, at the time, sold for a loss. It's a surprise nintendo managed to last until now without having to do it really.
Plus, right now nintendo has enough actual cash to last until 2052 at the rate they were losing money earlier in the year, before they run out of money.
