That's how it always happens though o_o Certain states are "guaranteed" to certain parties mostly because they have a history of voting for that party (like how California is practically guaranteed to vote for Obama and how Texas is pretty good about Romney). It's all down to beating the electoral college- get those states that have a good mix of political affiliates. The popular vote, I expect, to be very close (near 50:50, but with advantage to, probably, Obama).
