My Assumption Wrote:Fearing that there was a true successor to the throne (He pulled from Hercules bs.), and Sombra at the time was about to claim the throne, didn't want this to happen, so if he can't have the empire, NO ONE CAN. In spite of this, someone told the royal family about this mess, and they narrowly escaped the disappearing empire. They pleaded to Celestia to live a life in hiding afterwards here in Canterlot. Seriously, did we knew Cadence was a Crystal pony before?
