This article seems to touch on a lot of what has been discussed here. Mainly, that alcohol in moderation is good for heart health, due to increasing coronary blood flow, and reducing clotting agents. Studies quoted in the article list that moderate drinkers are less likely to have heart attacks, and even mentions that it might lower risk for diabetes, and slow the progression of dementia in Alzheimer's patients.
But this is talking, at most, possibly 1-2 drinks per day. Maximum. How many can honestly keep to that amount, without finding themselves after a period of time needing more to receive the same satisfaction?
