Well it was expected of me, both by my parents/family and society. You need a degree nowadays to get a good job and I didn't feel like working at a McDonalds (or something of that nature) for the rest of my life.
Also I now feel that a part of me was striving for more knowledge, whether or not I knew that at the time doesn't really matter at this point.
