Well, 12 attack is a lot in my book. Many high levels would agree.

Scrolling better equips can easily make up for this 12 attack loss.
It isn't until you get your endgame equips that you notice the difference.

(And if I remember correctly, you can get attack pots from various places. If the sprite is an active skill, the pot easily overrides this.)
