The main reason why you can't really go hybrid for SMs is because half of your tree runs off of physical and the other half runs off of magical.

Before the revamp any decent Swordsman build was hybrid because you had so many points leftover, and some of the skills were a waste to level. Hybrid was the way to go, hands down.

Now it isn't since they've encouraged leveling your ''main stat'' skills since you get way more out of them, which is a good thing.
