I completely agree with you on this. I've been in this prediciment for the past year and a half, and I cannot afford to continue deleting "lesser" characters just because they don't give link skills.
The Tempest update gives the ability to have 18 slots, but with that it brings 3 new classes, so we are back to square 1.
