Possible New Game Mode Called "Supremacy"?
#1
http://fusible.com/2012/04/supremacy-com...n-its-way/

Quote:Domain names can often be a good indicator of a company’s plans. And based on the large of amount of domain registrations and acquisitions recently, it looks like Riot Games is preparing to release a brand new game mode for League of Legends called Supremacy.

Back in late February, another domain blog Rogue Domaining had noted that leagueoflegendssupremacy.com and .net had been privately registered by the internet brand protection company MarkMonitor. While registering two domains may signal nothing more than a company trying to protect its intellectual property, I’ve discovered additional strong hints that Riot Games will be introducing League of Legends: Supremacy in the near future.

First off, Riot Games is a client of MarkMonitor, a firm that over half the fortune 100 rely on for brand protection online. While the key is to be discreet when registering names for yet-to-be-released games, months ahead of its Dominion game mode release, MarkMonitor registered names like leagueoflegendsdominion.com (Whois).

This week, MarkMonitor registered a slew of typos of League of Legends: Supremacy domains including:
Quote:
  • leageoflegendssupremacy.com
  • leageoflegendssupremacy.net
  • leagueoflegendsupremacy.com
  • leagueoflegendsupremacy.net
  • leaugeoflegendssupremacy.com
  • leaugeoflegendssupremacy.net
  • lolsupramecy.com
  • lolsupramecy.net
  • lolsupremecy.com
  • lolsupremecy.net
  • lolsupremicy.com
  • lolsupremicy.net

Now add to that, Riot Games has apparently acquired the generic domain names Supremacy.com (Whois) and Supremacy.net (Whois), which you can most certainly assume did not go for cheap, dropping hints that League of Legends: Supremacy is definitely on its way. You don’t spend the kind of money it takes to buy generic names like these for defensive purposes unless you have a plan.

Days ago, both names transferred from their previous owner to MarkMonitor. The tie-in between Supremacy.com and the other League of Legends names, is that on the same day MarkMonitor registered the typos of leagueoflegends.com and lolsupremacy.com, it also picked up typos of supremacy.com like supramecy.net, supremecy.net, supremicy.com, and supremicy.net.

While nothing is official yet, with all these new domain registrations revealed here in the past week, news of a new game mode seems very close.

kinda hope not... the other 2 game modes theyve introduced so far have been mostly failures.

dominion is used for all random and could never be competitive because of mobility champs, treeline isnt used because of balancing issues... and they wont make another 5v5 thats actually competitive because itll split their population.

personally id much rather they focus that money on pvp.net client and in game ui improvements because it doesnt seem like they can possibly throw enough money at that

You know there isn't a single team working on the whole of League of Legends, they like to do something called multitasking.

So a new game mode release won't affect much about other areas like skin making and champion design or live.team for champion balancing.

Sounds to me like a balance between Dominion and Summoner's Rift. More capturing turrets and area than Dominion, but still more going towards destroying their Nexus and capturing significant targets. That would be somewhat nice.
I really wish they'd just release Magma Chamber and maybe a Capture the Flag mode and get that over with.

I just signed in from school to say I hope it's that zombie mode like the one in the forums.

thats why i said "i wish they would spend money elsewhere".
instead of something else more specific to putting people working on new game modes into champ design.
sheesh. the moneys always going somewhere.

Pretty much this, I've never seen a moba/dota clone use a client as awful as LoL's (not even the bad ones like Rise of the Immortals). Sure the fact that you can literally keep the window open forever with little memory loss is convenient but the adobe air client is so goddamn buggy.

The thing is, people that play League of Legends are already in a certain type of niche when it comes to video games. I feel like a lot of the regular players would prefer new 5v5 maps over a new game mode, that might end up not be too much fun. New 5v5 maps wouldn't deviate to far from the normal way it's played, but also add a new level of variety.

Depends. If they want to make it actually a small change of pace, it could result in problems that make the mode more imbalanced compared to other 5v5 modes.
