Let's make the game better. NEXON SUGGESTION THREAD.

At Level 150, you could barely top 6% / Hour. That's understandable, if your maybe 185. I'm 90% sure most of the high levels would just quit. LHC made it 500x easier.

inb4 People reply saying hurr you would never have lasted in teh past!!1!

I've been playin this game for 5 years now.
Sure LHC was the best place when BB came. But then again there wasn't anyother place to be.
If you do all the PQ's available for your level you can at least level once per day until level 170-175 isn't this awesome? And you don't have to grind for hours doing the same things over and over and over again. Furthermore you can get awesome rewards from these PQ's and this would at least try to balance a little bit the game. Why do I mean with this?
Well I'm very sick of watching people powerleveling to 150-160 and having NO EQUIPMENT and not even their skills maxed. Also, people who tend to power level has near to 0 interaction with other people. This screw up the community in general.
This is all my point of view.

It may be your opinion, but my opinion of your opinion is that you have shitty opinion.

Maple is first and foremost a GAME. Players should not be criticized for treating it as such. I play maple because I enjoy it. I don't play maple to meet other people. I don't play maple to talk. It's a game. I play maple to PLAY IT. I don't want to have to deal with little pukes who do nothing but chat. I don't want to have to depend on other people in order to have my fun. There are far too many stupid people in the game and I don't need to be forced to interact with them.

LHC is perfect for what I like to do. If we lose it this month, it will be a tough loss. Does that mean I will start PQ-ing? pineapple no! It just means that I will have to solo monster park all day. PQing requires you to depend on other people. Well, the bulk of the kiddies in Maple are completely unreliable. There is no fun in being let down. Pre-BB, the best way to gain Exp under lvl 50 was to do Monster Carnival. What a nightmare! Unless you organized your own parties, it was the worst. You'd spend forever trying to get a party then spend forever waiting for a room. Then you'd get inside and realize that your party is fool of clueless tools who won't shut up long enough to get the job done. This is fun? Hardly. Give me a good map to grind on any day.

And this-
Quote:Also PQ's should follow CWKPQ, you NEED all the classes to complete the PQ, I remember when the PQ's needed this. When in LudiPQ you needed at least 1 thief,1 mage and 1 archer. This encourage people to meet other and actually INTERACT with them in order to get a fully functional party.

Go back to the stoneage. The removal of these requirements was the best thing they did. Having these requirements meant you would get 40 people trying to do a PQ and only 3 could do it because only 1 mage was there. It's absolutely stupid. It doesn't encourage people to Interact. It encourages people to find other things to do instead of PQ.

PQs are fine as they are - optional and open.

It's like your trying to force people to PQ. If you remove LHC, leveling will be god awfully slow from 110-165, unless you want to remove Stronghold too?

MP is also a thing.

There's a reason why LHC and Stronghold were turned into regular training areas at the same time that MP was added to the game in MapleKorea.

What? Who said something about billion mesos?
I only have around 50% Str, and my end game weapons sucks so bad. But haven't you see all those players at level 160 with level 70 clean equipments? Are they even trying? I think not.

I'm not trying to force anyone to PQ.
What I'm saying is, with LHC around people are caring too much about leveling and not growing their character integrally.

Oh, that kind of no equipment. That irritates me a lot though. Besides, you could probably earn an entire set of 80+ clothing in 1 round of 2x or 4x.

EDIT: On a serious note, they need to ditch Black Cipher. I've been lagging so hard that when I just 1+1ed my Aran from 70-81, I had to log in 3! times just to allocate AP & SP and to equip my weapon.

None of my characters have had past 40%main stat, and my 199 F/P has 28%INT, most of his gear is also clean. I'm probably not living up to your standards, I'm so very sorry.
A lot of people avoid PQing because they don't want to depend on dumbasses. Removing LHC would force people to PQ, MP, boss, and/or train on normal mobs till 165.
6%/hour from regular mobs is hell-ish to wish upon people, like pre-BB. Bossing is fine, but gets slow(or boring with the no attacking glitches for GB). MP and PQing both require you to depend on others(for decent EXP @ the former), are are mind numbingly repetitive.

I'd rather Nexon fixed hacks(like the WH spawn boosting hack), glitches, and started releasing real(not stupid *omfgaliens!!*) content.

WHO CARES? Why should you give a flying pineapple about what someone else uses for equipment?

If you don't like how they play, don't play with them. Of course, under your regime, you couldn't avoid them because you have to PQ in order to progress. Your spouting is nothing but you wanting everyone else to play like you do. So what if they have clean lower level equipment? There are tons of possible reasons for it such as secondary stat requirements. If you don't like LHC, avoid it. It shouldn't make you mad that others don't follow suit and LHC shouldn't be removed just because it doesn't suit your grand plan of how everyone else should play.

My personal favorite part of this game is trying see just how high I can maximize my experience gain. For others it's seeing how high their damage can get. For others, it's bossing. For still others, it's fashion. The number of player types is innumerable. Your point of view is all about removing player types that you don't like. Well, tough. The only player types that should be eliminated are cheaters and hackers. Everyone else has a place in the maple world.

It's an MMORPG, you're asking nexon to contradict the very thing it is. All the things your critisizing should be encouraged. In fact I would argue you that it's your POV that's ruining the game. All anyone cares about is how can MEMEMEMEMMEME get strong enough where I don't depend on ANYONE.

Well guess what, you got that game. Do you like it? F`ucking no, you know why? It's that greed and antisocial behavior that drives people to hacking to obtain it. Who the f`uck do I care what YOU think! I play maple to play the game! I just want a few shortcuts so I can skip to the good part!

I gurrantee this game would be a lot different if there were a community, and not the idea end game means ME.

That's great, but that isn't how the game should be encouraged to play. ITS AN MMO, jesus christ.

But, I DO like it. I am not on here complaining about the game daily. I have the game going the way I want it to. I -do not- believe in ruining the game for other people, but I don't need to be forced to play with other people to enjoy the game. There is a big line between being selfish and being self-oriented. I can train the way I want (on most days). I don't have to deal with children most of the time. I have guild of people who play my way. It's perfect.

LHC is not intended to make people play alone. It is intended to reward the people who were Grinders (naturally solo players) for doing what they love most with more people. It's the best of both worlds.

Quote:ITS AN MMO, jesus christ.
Thank you for addressing me by my proper name. Biggrin
MMO simply means that you play your game with 10,000 other people at the same time. It doesn't mean you should be forced to play with others for everything. It's very important that your game is accessible to all. We have a population of people in strange time zones that get completely alienated when the game becomes group-centric. Games that get too reliant on actual community often fail pretty fast (Star Wars and Everquest fell fast when they changed in that direction, for example). The bulk of game players are casual players. If the game is not readily accessible to the casual player, your population numbers will always be low. If you are forced to dedicate X hours per day just to maintain an online community, it's just not going to be a very big community. Adult gamers are the best way to make money. You shouldn't force them to give up their social lives just to maintain things. (Mushie shops are the best thing that maple does. People aren't forced into being a merchant class just to maintain an economy. Anyone can sell and can still play the game.)

My point is that both gamer types need to be accommodated. Social gamers should have things that reward them for being social. Solo gamers should have options that reward them the same way. We have those things in Maple right now. (I would like Party Quest rewards to be even better than they are right now, though.) I see no reason we should change things to hurt either side. I fully concede that Maple is currently overpopulated with selfish people. (I still maintain that this is because of the demographic primarily.) Unfortunately, it's quite difficult to program a game that forces you to have good moral standards and display common decency to others.

Since this is a suggestion thread and I have done nothing but kvetch about others' suggestions, I should 'put up or shut up' and give some actual suggestions.

1) Make PQ Experience even better. The recent adjustments were good, but I would like to see more. If it is more efficient to level up in PQs, they will absolutely be more popular.
2) Remove the purchase limit on Monster Park tickets. If this was implemented then I wouldn't be as upset if we did lose LHC.
3) Make monster park work better across all level ranges. I'd like to see runs designed for each range of 10 levels, including lvl 190-200. I know there are overhauls coming from KMS, but since I haven't seen them in action I do not know if they are better or worse than our current GMS version.
4) A new 3-door room in ToT that has doors to the beginning of each segment of the temple. Keep the maps contiguous, but have the doors open up for you as quest rewards.
5) Make Sharing Tags cheaper. it shouldn't cost as much as regular SoK.
6) Along the same lines, change SoK items to be more like Equip Tradeblock. In other words, if you wear it it becomes untradable, but if you use a SoK on it, it stays tradable until someone else Equips it again.
7) Make the Potential Lock item a time limited item and not a one-use item. Even just a 4 hour time limit would make it very useful and would sell an awful lot of cubes. Along the same line, make a 2-line lock for a higher price.
8) Make some Meso-cost alternatives for NX items, like cubes.
9) Naturally, you need a good GM presence. Secret GMs can be cheap and effective.
10) I agree with many others that 24-hour spawn bosses are downright moronic. Make Pianus like Pap. Make Dual pianus be an option when you enter the cave. (Like a selection of Left, Right, or both.)
11) go back to instanced mini-bosses. I thought that system was great. Make all the mini-bosses instanced. Put a limit on the number of times you can enter the rooms.

I am sure I can think of more, but that's what I got.

But you reinforce the very attitude that ruins the game. That's a hacker attitude, no matter how you look at it. That's great, but as you can see the game is declining. Guess what that means? Maybe your approach isn't the general want of majority of the players, just a thought.

Thorr Wrote:My point is that both gamer types need to be accommodated. Social gamers should have things that reward them for being social. Solo gamers should have options that reward them the same way.

But that point isn't be argued. The overall game is solo and favors solo. It shouldn't be like that on ANY mmo where partying and such should be dominated. People are attacking Chew over stating the obvious. It is annoying to see how players don't have to work for anything and can reach the end game content with level 0 gear. There's no work anymore, and everyone who does work is a sucker. The game is so broken that levels are worthless, and any new content has this ridiculous standard it expects out of people. Seriously the very developers believe everyone has a perfect 100% boss weapon. And why shouldn't they?

Then again any person who plays Nexon America Maplestory is clearly retarded or a masochist.

Come now, it is not like the other versions are fundamentaly different. It is KMS after all, that spews out the updates that turns the game into what it has become.

I was trying to avoid the KMS butt clingers. Also the closing of 3 region based MS' reinforces that point.

That is an outright lie. Hackers get hungry, too. That doesn't mean that anyone who gets hungry must have a Hacker attitude.

Having a solo mindset does not constitute a hacker attitude. The difference between a Hacker attitude and a Solo attitude is that the hacker doesn't work within the confines of the game with which he is presented. The hacker advances himself at the expense of others and at the expense of the community. The solo player works completely within the framework of the game, he just doesn't enjoy playing with many people most of the time.

Kids (as in immature gamers) and Cliques ruin games, not the solo gamer.

Anyone who supports that end game content should be solo content might as well hack especially if it's an MMO. The whole point of MMO's is playing with others, you run in here exclaiming that the way game is handled is perfect for you, therefore is fine.

You both want the same thing, just one wants it faster. What's the underlying point of this? I'm not questioning you as a hacker or as a legitimate or not. I'm questioning the fact that your goals are relative. The option should exist but the entire purpose of the game should not revolve around independency.

And there is where your argument becomes invalid. You assert that MMO must require sociability. MMO doesn't mean Must Multiplayer Only. MMO simply means that you have other players freely there. You can be as social as you want. There are plenty of MMOs that aren't even games. They are totally social experiences. Your Connotative definition of MMO is different than the actual Denotative meaning of MMO. The monniker MMO doesn't require the environment to have X% of social content. That is just what YOU think MMOs are 'supposed' to be about. That's is completely a personal opinion and not factual.

Quote:Are you saying you support the current product?

Yes, I am. I am quite happy with it. If I wasn't, I would not continue to play.

I am not saying, in any fashion, that the game must be a purely solo experience. I am saying that the game must not be a purely social experience. I think we have a good balance right now. I can PQ when I want. I can Solo train when I want. LHC is a social place. Its just not closed off to the solo gamer. PERFECT! If I train solo in LHC, I am not going to do as well as I would with a party. Same for Monster Park.

It can be argued that it's Party Play (whether PQ or LHC) is the very reason that players advance without any work. So why the hell are you coming down on the solo gamer? He has to work harder than anyone in order to advance!

So what definition do you come up with exactly. I find it utterly retarded you are playing a game intended for interaction and actually supporting the fact it functions more on a solo-playability level. If you make a game with online capability, especially an RPG I would only assume, by common sense, that it takes some type of interaction to play it. You're essentially saying that it being completely stripped out of the product is not only acceptable but encouraged?.

Are you saying you support the current product?

thor Wrote:Yes, I am. I am quite happy with it. If I wasn't, I would not continue to play.

...So you support the fact that any player in any fashion can dictate if you can play the game or not. Okay. You like the fact NX dictates how far you can go into the game? Okay. And you're fine with the fact that majority of the high level content is just unrealistic without a large sum of NX spent and the gaming currency being worthless?

What you essentially support is possibly the worst managed game of the last decade.

No one's arguing that but that's what the game has become. Exploit, or train somewhere that was intended for someone nearly half your level. I'm pretty sure solo is the basic concept of the game right now, and it isn't balanced in that regard. Bosses? solo'd. 1-100? Solo. LHC? Party with people on an exploited map? Social?

The game should treat you exactly as you are, a minority. That means minor parts of the game should be solo, not half and half, not majority, which it currently is. It's an MMO, it's entire creation was to make players accomplish adventures together. It's such a basic concept that it's killing me that you are trying to pick at petty definitions. No not definitions, but perspectives.

thor Wrote:It can be argued that it's Party Play (whether PQ or LHC) is the very reason that players advance without any work. So why the hell are you coming down on the solo gamer? He has to work harder than anyone in order to advance!

What strips the challenge is the absolute difference in PvE, if a player can solo HT in less than 10 minutes, what the hell are regular mob monsters? Garbage. I'm not saying kill a million HT's an hour but, there should be more to it than grinding a monster that slows down at 170. Your ability to leech and gain massive amount's of damage at level 100, is not determined by whether you play solo or if you play as a party. It's based off a broken structure that you're either oblivious of or you're not understanding the underlining argument.

KhainiWest; The purpose of an MMO is to create a game environment that allows as much or as little interaction between players as desired. Any MMO that tries to dictate the way someone plays by creating a social/party exclusive environment is doomed to fail. DOOMED. Any decent MMO attempts to create a balance between solo and party game experience because that is precisely what their customer base is, a mixed group of people that desire various levels of social interaction in their games. Next you will tell me that all worlds should be the size of Scania because obviously greater numbers of people interacting together is what we all want most! Some people like and even need a solo/small group experience.

KhainiWest Wrote:It's an MMO, it's entire creation was to make players accomplish adventures together.
That is you opinion. Stop pretending that you understand the motivations of every single person that plays this or any other game and stop trying to dictate how other people play.

There absolutely should be end game solo content. There absolutely should be end game party content.

You claim that people that want a solo experience might as well hack is not only rude and inflammatory, its wrong. Hacking has absolutely nothing to do with whether you play solo or party. It's about whether you work within the confines of the game and adhere to rules which (in theory, not in Maple >.>) balance the playing field when players interact.

I don't like to be overly reliant on other people because like everyone else playing this or any other gamer, my availability is limited and subject to change. If I needed more than three active people to train or boss I would never be able to play this game at all because its simply impossible to find people that can play actively for any significant length of time. It would also utterly destroy the small servers.

There's a lot of things wrong in MapleStory both in conception and in execution. One of the things they did right, in my opinion, is try to allow both solo and party playing styles. They don't always do it well, but the constant updates show at least some sort of theoretical attempt.
