jesus christ how horrifying. It's the only thing that sort of creeps me out about that Hadron Collider, because even if it's a tiny tiny chance, the risk of being trapped in an eternal death is NOT worth any gain they may have gotten out of it. Do that experiment in space or something, preferably in another solar system, lol.

Interesting. But as stated already.. If It can support life. Then possibly there's already life on it? That's what i would like to know before deciding it could be our future settlement.. Hurt If the lifeforms are anything like our own we would be killed as soon as we set foot on that planet and cut open for experiments before they take our ship and head back here for more labrats.

Makes me sad through, by the time we have the technology to perform lightspeed and travel outside of the solar system I would have died already. L> TARDIS Frown

Jupiter is a gas giant; it's almost completely composed of gas. It's about 318 times HEAVIER than Earth, and has 1321 times the volume. Therefore its radius is about 11 times that of Earth's, which would make its gravitational field strength 2.64 times greater than that of Earth's. If it were a terrestrial planet rather than a gas giant, it would be much heavier and thus have an even greater gravitational field strength.

tl;dr Jupiter's not a good planet to compare Earth to.

Anyway, I'm still waiting for the guys in lab coats to come up with an efficient and cost-effective method to terraform Mars; it's much closer to us anyway.

We can prolong it's life, but we can never completely avoid it's destruction. To do that we would have to become self sufficient and renewable in every single aspect of consumption and if we did that, what's the point of colonization?

You mean other then our rapidly growing population.

These types of things finding planets similar to ours are what make me mad that I wont ever see any of this stuff come to pass.

We seem to be very casual with the terminologies here.

F_gravity = G * m1*m1/r^2
It matters how massive a body is, not how big nor how heavy. In fact, the larger a planet with the same mass is, the less surface gravity it has.
