It is possible!

So, I was having a conversation with my friend about what we do to kill boredom, and happened to mention my love of Minesweeper. Naturally, I got the initial "HAHA! YOU ELDERLY PERSON!" Lets face it, no one ever seems to WANT to try and understand the game unless they have exhausted all other means of entertainment and have literally NO other options. But, after I explained how the game works, she completely changed her opinion of it, so that got me thinking...

So yeah, I'm here to tell you all how misunderstood it is, and how EASY it is, annnd how you can do what I've done below and feel all smart (when if you're anything like me, you're really not XD). I'd also like to hear if other people are Minesweeper dorks too



Fist off. The start is ALWAYS going to be a guessing game. The trick is to try and clear a few little open areas in the first few clicks. It might take you a few restarts to do that though, but don't lose heart.

If you flag a square, you can TEST IT, without nuking your game if you get it wrong. To do this just click left and right mouse buttons at the same time on the square with the number you are testing. (this is the whole key to successfully completing the game btw.) If you get it right, the empty squares will be removed, leaving only your flagged, correct ones. If it's wrong, then nothing will be revealed, so you should unflag the squares and try again.

If you COMPLETELY have no idea what the hell is going on with the game, here is a small summary.

1) The numbers that are revealed represent how many mines are in ALL of the boxes touching that number.

For the center it would be:

__|___|__
__|_3_|__ <- Means that there is 3 mines in the eight squares touching the middle one
__|___|__


A corner:

________
|_1_|___| <- Means there is 1 mine in all the boxes touching it.
|___|___|

This always applies to a radius of one box, and never extends past that. But it is useful to use other number to help you in your judgement. But, when in doubt Right+left click a number to test your flags.

...I figured this game out through experimentation when I was around 8 on my dad's old PC running Windows 3.1. It's pretty simplistic, if you ask me.

Haha so true. And yeah once you get used to how it works, you use right+left click a lot less.

But yeah i just found it funny. It's a good way to kill time but people don't seem to want to give it a chance ;(

Here's a cheat:

Make sure you start a new game of minesweeper. Before you click any boxes, type: X,Y,Z,Z,Y, SHIFT+ENTER(shift and enter at the same time), ENTER

At the very top left corner of your desktop you will see a single pixel. If it's white, that means there's no mine. If it turns black, there's a mine. This works best on dark desktop backgrounds.

I love Minesweeper but pineapple... it's so stressful. I tried the Left Right thing as well and I lost... many times.

Lawl. I can't be bothered with Expert, since I'm impatient. I like playing Beginner over and over again, though. My best time was 4 seconds, but best times in Beginner are largely based on luck. Basically everything that time was revealed on the second or third random click except like one box on the edge.

I can do most configurations in about 10-15, though, unless I die on the first few clicks.
