Not for the sake of skepticism, but out of the thousand things people want Nexon to do, anything they actually do would end up looking like answering the wishes of the masses.

Yeah, I was admittedly wrong to imply any sort of causality there.
If anything, it's mere coincidence.

My surprise mostly comes from them doing something positive for the user without us pushing them to do so.

You've addressed precisely why I'll never be pro-"Let's get rid of 2x Events entirely and replace them with cards."

Unless Nexon goes out of the way to create a new card that can stack with other cards and exists specifically to be given out as an "event", replacing events with cards accomplishes two negatives:

1 - Limits the amount of stacking experience multipliers.
2 - Reduces the number of people buying multiplier cards (whether drop or experience).

For a long time, the only thing I ever spent NX on was multiplier cards. That's it.
What's more, I only ever used multiplier cards was during double events so as to make the most out of that event.
In other words, if I hadn't been able to stack the multiplier cards with the event, I wouldn't bought them, and a vast majority of money that I've spent on NX would have never been spent.
