Calling all Tespians
#1
Doing Familiar research right now and I need as many hands on board as possible.

The familiars gained through Cody have a 30 day timer. ShiKage says this is new for GMS and that JMS familiars were forever. We speculated that this was because they were "event" familiars and given out by Cody, so people went in search of dropped familiars. Except everyone is level 200 and the Ascension anti-botting loot killer may have been stopping the drops. I've created a low level character to kill low level enemies but haven't found a familiar card yet, and I'm not sure if this is because they don't drop or if it's because the drop rate is so low.

We need people to create low level characters and to kill enemies within their level range to see if the familiars will drop. The more people we have the more likely we are to find one, if they are dropping. If 10 to 20 of us can't find one then we'll assume they aren't dropping for whatever dumb reason. If you find one, use it and report back here with whether or not it has a timer (screenshot please)

I'll help, but I can't promise a lot of kills.

I am curious whether JMS's cards drop at an absurdly low rate.

The rates are Regular at best according to shikage.

Based off the video we saw with the mostly full of familiar cards USE tab, I would assume they're not absurdly hard to get.

I'll hunt 13x mobs, but not guaranteeing any success.

Nevermind, I doubt there are 13x familiars.

Good point. haha

Even were that in JMST and if JMST were to have an elevated drop rate, that'd be a lot of cards.

That's because we had an NPC to talk to to receive random Monster Familiars - similar to how you have Cody.

There are Monster Familiars for almost EVERY monster and boss in the game. The only exclusions I can think of are stationary bosses like Zakum and Pianus.

My bet is that the drop tables are not updated for Tespia. Therefore, you won't see any Monster Familiars drop. Usually, low-level monsters' Familiars are easy to find (and it gets a LOT harder to find them as the levels increase). I mean, when Tespia was up for testing for Ascension, the event items, like the Beauty Tickets, didn't drop at all, so that's why I'm betting they're not coded in to drop yet.

Aren't they in the monster book? If they are in JMS, they should be for us.

Nexon: We'd like you to test this!
Us: Test what?
Nexon: I dunno, you figure it out.

So everyone report that they're not dropping and thus we cannot effectively test them.

This, my dear people, is Tespia for you.

You're supposed to be testing their functions, not their drop rate.

I do think it's silly not to have them coded into drop tables by the time they put it up on tespia though.

It's cuz they copy-pasted. Even the familiars are/were in Japanese.

They are...? Because my computer must then magical transform Japanese Text into English because as far as I could see I could perfectly read their effects.

Maybe they're not 100% sure if they're gonna actually add it or not, so they added expiring ones to Cody to test em out, and if they change their mind about it, they won't have to change anything, they'll all eventually disappear~

But surely they wouldn't let those long long hours of coding and testing go to waste...

Oh wait, its a copy paste, right.

You think nexon america actually cares about tespia? It's a fucking joke to them. I don't know why you think saying anything will change anything :/
