A response to the hackings.

It's not hard to use a proxy or maintain a different IP for each set of accounts you wish to keep separate.

The BIGGEST weakpoint in any scam in this world is the people involved. People will -always- mess up eventually, it is in our very nature.

also, make the replacement equips untradeable. all problems solved; the people get their items back, the economy isn't "destroyed", and everyone is happy. Who on earth is going to sell their awesome perfect items they spent hundreds of dollars to make, anyway? Its not like this game has any account selling potential on ebay or something anymore...and actually, even if it did, the items are bound to the account anyway, so the buyer would still get the items.

That actually is quite a good idea and people can't over abuse this, but what about the people that lost items and they only care for their market value (e.g. getting hacked of your collection of chairs you use to fund yourself)?

You can't please everyone, especially not in a situation like this. If Nexon recognized that the lapse in security was their fault, I want to know what it was that happened and how exactly they plan to address the issue. What is important is that this doesn't happen again. Peace of mind for their players would be fantastic. There would have to be some kind of system in place for those who lost exorbitant amounts of NX, too. Something simple like refunding some of the total NX purchased as MaplePoints. Not a big deal.

The package is no good. It's a bandaid. Doesn't fix the problem. Doesn't address the loss. Doesn't do anything but make people angry after having waited so long for a response. And show how little Nexon understands about the current state of the game.

The what-ifs back and forth doesn't really add anything here, imo.

I agree with this completely. Sadly because something is being done it's gonna be enough for the majority of people just because it's so uncharacteristic and unexpected.

You find nothing insulting with the whole thing? Some hacked people did not have anything close to what Nexon gave them, true, but for many the compensation was not even a fraction of what they lost. Don't get me wrong, they get some credits for trying, but since so many hackings is Nexons own fault, they should figure out something better.

And for those who spent hundreds, THOUSANDS of dollars on NX to get where they were? Do you seriously think they have no right to complain about this crappy compensation? They have EVERY right. For a lot of people this isn't getting something for free in the least. This is paying for something, having it get taken away, and given a pile of dung in return.

If they really wanted to they could even follow the trail of item all the way to where it ultimately went and determine if it still existed before creating a new one, or move the already existing one back where it was originally. Database operations of that sort are idiotically simple. Much like this entire argument.

If it was THAT easy, they probably would've already done it. I, too, agree that it would be the BEST way, but it's also true that they'd have to do it for EACH item of EACH hacked account. It would be possible, if they have the right logs to be able to track items in that way, but it would still take very long. Too long for it to be even worth for them to do.

We all know they don't actually care about players, and if they see that something wouldn't economically be worth doing, they just won't do it. Think of the players who will decide to keep playing (they'd be a minority, but still) and scroll/cube their equips from scratch. They'd just earn money from that.

Sadly, we just have to deal with having an incredibly incompetent and greedy company run this game. Hell, I wouldn't even be surprised if they didn't have a way to track items as you are suggesting.

I'm sorry, my 747 was stolen through their own poor security and Nexon gave me a bicycle I have to go to pick up in another country as replacement.
That's not a favor to me, in any way shape or form. There's a big difference between gratitude for what you have/get and being willing to accept a vast inequity.
And I'm not even one of the most severely impacted.

There is no if. They just won't. It would take at most 30 minutes per account to research and correct and every last one of their GMs could do it if given the right tools and a procedure to follow.

Because they spent the first two or three years of running the game in North America telling us so.

And to prove it they implemented things like the idiotically-named-by-players "hellban" for people who had illegal items/mesos, which would require them to have been able to track it.

Because what they've given us is insult to add to our injury, not reparations or even the pretense thereof.

Having left us with nothing just left us wounded. This was them pissing in those wounds and telling us it was a kindness.

Well you do make a good point here, but it might be also because you (as people mostly do) expected quite much from such a compensation package. You were talking about a few 10 thousands of NX, tracking back of transactions, and giving back unique items and such. Didn't that influence this eventual dissapointment as well?
If they didn't tell anything about this compensation via EoIs and so, and just gave you this reverse set and the adv. pot. scrolls at random, I'm pretty sure you would be happier.

What confuses me more than anything is that a lot of the things they are doing instead take longer than that would. In some cases, MUCH longer. It's like they are deliberately going out of their way to make people unhappy. That sounds absurd, but seriously, that's the only thing left, all other logical and even illogical reasons are out the window at this point.

Maybe the executives are tired of running an MMO company and want to shut it down in the most ungodly passive-aggressive way they can possibly think of. LOL.

They might as well have is OUR point. The reverse equipment is GARBAGE. Even as a drk, both weapons are worthless, fu`ck they gave me every warrior weapon available. Why the hell do YOU or NEXON believe I deserve a two hand sword, a two hand mace, a one hand axe, when they have no MARKET value and clog my inventory. Fu`ck the least they could have done is give us 100% advanced potential scrolls. They give me a bergamount, when I'm currently wearing one, with 14 weapon attack, and with that bergament 7 untradeable glove attack scrolls. What the hell do I do with these?

I'm even more angry they underminded the damage and insult us by giving us 100 power elixers. Do you know what 100 power elixers do? Jack shyt when your gear is slow, and gives you 16 str total, not even regarding the cubing necessary to possibly make it useful. I didn't expect godly gear, even though I ss'd everything I lossed, to show what I did lose, took the time to even log the times, dates, message history, and source of THEIR exploit. To put the cherry on top they waited a year to do this. I would have taken a purple surfboard/CHTP over all of it, fu`ck I'd take my smiling mask back which has been duped passed recognition ANYWAY.

I'll tell you this much though, no matter what they would have given me, I wouldn't have came back, I'm no longer supporting ANYTHING that has to do with nexon. As eos said, it was expected, but none the less dissapointing.
