Maple Story 3D and Maple Story 2. Does not seem like a hoax.
#61
Here is what I think they should make MapleStory 2:

Totally different areas. During the first versions of the game, have completely new areas and monsters. However, if they could find a way to keep the same classes (except with new skills), that would be great. In later patches (like maybe 0.30 or so), add Victoria Island and Ossyria.

Have the first level 200 of each class be the job instructors in the new areas. By that point we should have a level 200 pirate, so that shouldn't be a problem. Nice way to immortalize some maplers. Have the other job advancement instructors (2nd, 3rd, and 4th) be taken by random npcs, none that are other maplers.

Storyline that explains why everyone left the Maple World. In my mind, here's what the story should be:
"The Black Magician was defeated many times, but could never be killed. It turns out he was building up an army, and he unleashed his army on the Maple World. The job instructors tried to defeat this army, but were overrun and destroyed by its power. The most powerful maplers tried to defeat this army as well, but the army was just too powerful. They retreated and escaped in the Nautilus, finding a land not too far away. It was overrun with monsters, but none that the maplers couldn't take. Soon the land was colonized, and they named the towns after the lost job instructors, *insert names for towns here*. They later found a land that had much stronger monsters, but the maplers knew that they had no chance against them. The maplers colonized the safe areas of the land, which was much bigger than they first imagined. 2,000 years later, their legacy lives on... and so does the Black Magician's army."

All I have right now, tell me if my ideas are any good.

I think it should be based on Masteria, using the StormBreakers, WindRaiders, etc. as the main classes of the game. When it was still Olde Sapp Village and all that stuff.

I don't like that idea because the names will most likely suck, their armor/weapons will not match their class in most cases and because there is more than one version of MapleStory.

Um... keep the same versions?
And, as for the name, just keep it the same. What's the problem with that? Carry it over.
Armor will have to change though, I don't want to see a guy wearing a level 30 helmet being the warrior job instructor.

Paper Mario was awesome! Big Grin If they do that, it might be very fun. A lot of skills would have to be messed with, though (although finally slash blast would go in a full circle Rolleyes ).

If they do it completely 3D...idk. Confused

I speculate that MapleStory 2 will be a whole new story. Maybe containing some tie in to the Black Magician storyline, but overall having its own story with a brand new ultimate boss to defeat. I look forward to any new storyline.
I'm not even going to begin to theorize about what the new story would be, assuming there even is one.

Nexon Korea can't do that I think.
EDIT: Well, they might...but they probably won't since Nexon Korea doesn't like other version exclusives.

Hmm. So would everything be the same as it is in gMS, or would this open the entire thing to being brand new (and only the classes and other things would remain the same)?

Also, I wonder if accounts could be "transferred" or if you would have to start a new one in the new MS. IMO, I don't believe they could be transferred.

I think I'll wait for a few previews before I rate and rant about it,
But "IF" the MS3D would be anything like "Combat Arms" graphics it would be ok, I guess

But Meh, I'll wait and see

Let's hope for that. AND let's hope for our 2-d items to carry over, or let them keep gMS

To be perfectly honest, I love Maple Story, but I would not give Maple Story 2 a chance. Diablo 3 has been announced, and if I switch games at all, I'll go from Maple Story to D3. I am sure Maple 2 will be a great game, but some of the things Nexon does seriously bother me. I know this is not the "Nexon sucks" topic, but I also do not think we can discuss transferring from Maple to Maple 2 without mentioning the widespread concerns people have about Nexon as a company.

I played Warcraft 2, Starcraft, Diablo and Diablo 2. After that I went to Maple Story because a friend recommended it to me. The standards Blizzard holds itself to seem to me much greater than those practiced by Nexon. Nexon's customer service is almost universally considered inadequate, and I would never have come on Maple if I knew that it was this money-intensive. The GMs are overworked and understaffed, the players are pretty much on their own as far as hacking, scamming and KSing goes, and there has been no incentive for Nexon to change any of that that because they've successfully made every aspect of the game connected to the spending of money, and they pretty much got away with it. I do not see why they would change this basic company philosophy in Maple 2; that's why I do not think I want to get hooked on another Nexon game. A $15 monthly subscription to a good game is not as bad as the quantities of Nexon Cash competitive players expend, even if they do spend Nexon Cash on a good game. Some people here are talking about Nexon transferring Maple 1 inventories to Maple 2. I personally doubt they will do that because people starting over from scratch will make them waste more money than people transferring inventories.

Are you blind? They created that domain in 2002. It means nothing.

So that means it's been reserved for 6 years.

Who knows why they registered it back then. To stop people trying to sell a new Maple? For MapleStory 2?

We don't know yet.

I hope we can keep our characters from 2d to 3d.
Since they are not changing any items and stuff right, so technically they can just "transfer" our characters into 3d =D

So they wouldn't have to buy it off some kid for $4000 because he was smart enough to snatch it.

You're missing a couple of facts.

1) Nexon AMERICA is the one with the crappy customer service/etc.

2) I'm pretty sure Nexon KOREA has pretty good customer service and stuff. I mean, seriously, I think Starcraft is the only game that tops Maplestory there.

3) Nexon KOREA is probably developing Maplestory 2...why else would the language be Korean?

Then again, if Nexon America distributes it here...eh...let's hope the better part of their staff controls Maplestory 2.

They can just match it to the version it's running alongside.

Dark Knight->Fangblade
Paladin->Paladin
Hero->Novinha
Night Lord->LoOpEdd
Shadower-> none (NovazStory is highest?)
I/L->curryishott
F/P->? (sorry f/p's i have no idea who of the 31 lv.200s are f/p)
Bishop->Starlightzz
Bowmaster->dolob
Marksman -> none (CriticalLag is highest afaik)

I dunno what you mean about the armor/weapon thing... :p Most of the names aren't too bad.

This is a pretty good idea. And having it so far in the future would make it so that the origional Maple could be expanded.

You could also make the monsters in Victoria and Ossyria much stronger than they are now. It could be that the Black Magician's power made all the monsters much stronger, so now Vic could become the new Ossy and Ossy could become something much stronger. Also, bosses that are weak compared to Maplers now (Jr. Balrog) could be made into a new Zakum.

I don't know anything about Nexon Korea, but I am guessing if Nexon America distributed Maple in the Global territories they'll also distribute Maple 2. And if Nexon America is making a fortune, then I am guessing their current standards will be kept unless that fortune diminishes.
