People being hacked since the last Server Check.
lol I remember back in the days when nexon did that hackers started logging in by changing the verification packet from a no to a yes so they could log in with the wrong password. It would be kinda odd that they could fix that but still send the password packet (encrypted) for verification.

How hard is it to decrypt those passwords in the packet (if they exist)?

In before new pw requirement is 64 digits long at least one number, at least one lowercase letter, at least one uppercase letter, at least one symbol, have no words found in a dictionary, and must be changed every 10 days. Rolleyes

About the hackings: I have not been hacked yet to my knowledge on any of my 31+ accounts. Though with some of my mules maybe I wouldn't know because maybe they didn't take anything, though I would think they would take the mesos even though most of my accounts only have a mil or less mesos per character. My mules all have maple chairs, some have whips, but maybe those things just aren't valuable enough to mess with. My mains or stores certainly have not been hit (but that's much smaller, like 6 accounts - and much harder because they are logged in a lot).

Lets just say this was true. How did the hackers get in to accounts that were not on the list of login ids? I know for a fact my friend never used sp/sleepywood forums. All he did was play maple

Are all the hacked players high-leveled or totally random?

"myrdrex: That doesn't seem right- the response is a simply JSON message:
"error":{"code":"1510","type":"Unauthorized","message":"INCORRECT_ID_OR_PASSWORD"}}

Just set up a SSL proxy, decrypt it, and you'll see that. There's no embedded password at all on the response that comes back from a failed login.

"PepsiMin; ^ This is correct. Also, -Hime- on the nexon forums stated that they do not store any passwords on their end (believe it or not).

SO, THIS THREAD IS 100% INCORRECT. There's no proof (SS) of any encrypted passwords being sent back posted by the person who started this rumor, and until I see one, you should all regard this as a false scare.

About the hackings going on for the past month or so, I honestly don't know what's causing it. There could be other security holes in the game that hackers are exploiting."

This guy(Judging by my eyes and perhaps my disbelief in his theory) and what he said seems more reliable then the thread starter. I also could not re-create what the TS was talking about, so as far as I'm concerned. It's bullcrap unless he posts actual proof, instead of words.

That was just a off chance possibility brought up in the thread. I really wanted it to be a dumping ground for any information regarding the hackings, and to that end I've already learned a lot.

Since when did we SPers ever believed in -Hime-? xd And for all I know, maybe there was a grave security hole at the time, in which Nexon promptly patched that out by the time word started to spread in Basil or something. Who knows?

Also, they're doing damage control in their @MapleStory Twitter:

So has this actually been proven or is it just a rumour?

Everything is rumor till you see your own proof.
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.

My username wasn't on either of the lists. I have a SW account but it uses a completely different e-mail address altogether. I visited no sites that were suspicious. I still got hacked. More than likely, there's something other than the list going on around.

Or that list could have just been a fraction of the leaks.
Why would you want to post all of the stuff that you have? It makes people who aren't one of the 19k feel safe, and it also gives you and only you the info, so some random scriptkid can't just go in and beat you to the prize.

my friend Atheyena got hacked aswell, shes went back to wow now lol.

Life would be so much easier if Nexon admitted that something is, or at least was, wrong and it isn't players fault. The whole community would be in panic, but at least we would know what is exactly going on.

Why not? I do. Never hurts to have a mule for every occasion. Especially when you're 200.

Two of my friends got hacked in the past few weeks, so I'm a little bit scared. I just stay logged in like 90% of the day, because that's when they got hacked...

Found this on basil..
ToS is harsh as hell.

That's stupid to say the least. Their ToS is just them saying: "look, we have to write this down so we can prevent any future lawsuits: if we screw up we're not going to admit it and we're gonna blame it on our customers, do you agree? >YES >NO".

It's retarded and must be illegal to do that, I think.

11 accounts isn't a lot, the amount of characters you have is the question.

So anyways, did you check on 'em?

Doesn't matter what Nexon's ToS says, denying their responsibility doesn't make them less responsible for they mistakes when they happen. They can avoid lawsuits, but can't avoid truth.

WTPineapple. We're responsible for the MTS exploit? We're responsible if Nexon's database get leaked? Also, what can we do? Even players that didn't log on for months get hacked, even "not playing" isn't a safe anti-hacking measure anymore Rolleyes

This ToS CAN'T be legal.

It can cause you don't own your account. It is a properly of nexon. They are only allowing you to use it they reserve the right to ban or delete your account. However even if it's not on their ToS if they want to keep their reputation they have to keep customers happy.

Ofcourse it can, nobody forced you to agree with it. Lol.
It's stupid, i agree, but since you agreed to it that's pretty much the end of the discussion, this is why you should read ToS yourself before you sign up to something.
