The MTS is back online for all your Mapling needs. With the update, we have changed the way MTS stores player data to protect our players’ privacy. We sincerely apologize that unintended information was previously made available through the MTS, and for players who are concerned about the potential impact of this issue, we are offering a way to disable your account ID, and log into MapleStory using your email address.

What You Need to Know Before You Proceed
- Before you consider this option, you must have access to the email address registered to your Nexon account. This change will be permanent. If you go through with this change, you must always use your email to login on the website and game.

How To Change Your Account ID To Your Registered Email
- To change your account ID as your registered email, please submit a ticket through our Support portal under the following:
o Game Selection: MapleStory
o Category: Account Information
o Sub-category: Personal Information
o Summary: MTS issue
- Our Customer Support agents will work with each individual to address their concern.

Sounds nice and all, but then you remember that in that 19k list of IDs, some of them may be newer accounts that can only log in by e-mail. |:

That, and they're gonna be so swamped with requests that probably only a few will ever be resolved.

I'm torn on this.

My ID wasn't on the list, but an email login would let me change login IDs at will.
But, if they get the email login, then they also automatically know what email address I have associated with the account so they could try to brute force me from a different end (*snicker*).
Also, the email account I currently have associated with it is has a ridiculously long name, so that would be a pain to type in all the time.
But I could change that, of course.

The best part of this, really, is the way it in no way helps those who are locked out of their accounts thanks to the forced password change.

You can use your e-mail to log in through game launcher, so you can have it saved to whatever computer you use to log in. But one question that we're talking about that was slightly talked about above, if we do switch to this option and do switch the registered e-mail every now and then will they really tag that along as the log-in id?

I bet it works just like the new accounts, you no longer have an ID, just e-mail. So if you change e-mail then you change ID.

And if there is another leak (oh why would there be another leak.....lol) then I guess you would have to change e-mail?

And I'm amazed that Nexon actually admitted a problem and offered a fix to those interested. Much better than the 09 database breach.

I have my doubts. If you switch the registered e-mail to a new one, I would think they would still be using your previous e-mail as the log-in perhaps unless you submit another ticket to Nexon to change it again?

it doesn't, changing the e-mail changes your log-in email too, i had 2 accounts (mine and my brother's) i switched around a few times (because his account was linked to a secondary email i had and not his primary) and then i switched my account to that secondary mail i have.

may I be linked to this list?

i feel like having id is better than having email as id even if it was stolen

Well, if my Gmail is breached, I have more things to worry about than my Nexon account.

Watch Nexon get to these id-change tickets months and months after all 19k people get hacked.

Why not just allow the option of logging in with IDs? WTH is wrong with that? It worked fine before and it should work now.

Just make a mule email account people o.o Not that difficult.

id not using email- they have to actually have your pass before they can log in and find out ur email to hack it and to switch info around

email as id- woot don't need pass just hack email, resend verification to switch infos

I think we said the same things but meant the complete opposites. Besides, they're not forcing everyone to log in with email, I think.
