Well, pomegranate.
I hope Nexon acts fast. Will check status when I wake up <_<

yo72 Wrote:I don't see how people using the storage part of mts affect Nexon it was more of the micro-transactions for 110 nx that screwed them MTS tax change was retarded and encouraged what was supposed to be avoided. Anyway this thread isn't about that so we shouldn't derail it ;p

Locked Wrote:YOU PEOPLE ARE THE REASON MTS TAX CHANGED Except Nexon's attempted fix actually never discouraged anyone from doing the same thing when the "fix" came out =/ I mean, they could have done anything from limiting the amount of items able to be stored in the MTS or increased the initial input amount (the 5k mesos) to something ridiculous like 300k, but they chose instead to make the micro transactions suck and make it all about Macro transaction to the point where you NEED to put something that's worth money into the MTS in order to make anything out of it. Regardless of their stupid "Fix" people are still using the damned place as storage.

So basically once they got ur ID your pretty much at any hackers mercy correct?

Locked Wrote:YOU PEOPLE ARE THE REASON MTS TAX CHANGED I never did quite understand the logic there. If they wanted to discourage people from using the as storage, they should have just made it so the items would have a daily meso fee for every item in the mts, whether it was on sale or not. Then they could use such a system to be even greedier and make it so that once the player runs out of money, the item can't be obtained again until he/she get's enough nx to pay for whatever price he/she tried to sell it for. Of course, that would get even more hate than a ridiculous tax that makes it nearly impossible to sell anything that isn't worth around 50 million mesos.

Just cause someone has your login id does not increase your chances of getting hacked. Here is my login id hack me right now
I3AnDT3t If this is the case the ones that have godly items that smega all the time will be getting hacked the most, and not random poor nubs. You guys over exaggerate so MUCH! If their is a way to get your pw and pic using hacks then i can see the need to panic. Other than that idc if someone knows my login id

street Wrote:Just cause someone has your login id does not increase your chances of getting hacked. Here is my login id hack me right now Bypasses exist. They don't need to guess your pass / PIC.

I think everyone can agree, having a public log in ID makes it a lot easier to get hacked. So if you still have a dictionary password, change it (to a non-dictionary password).
2011-08-28, 02:31 AM
According to the basil topic about this issue, you need to have an item up for sale in the MTS in order to be affected by this. Whether or not this is true, I'm kinda hoping it is as it'll at least offer some protection against this hack, but it'll kill the MTS for some time until it gets fixed.

It's just your ID. Why are people freaking out?
For almost as long as MTS has been around, everyone who took a screenshot of their MTS would have revealed their ID.

Makes me wonder if Nexon uses the userID as the primary "link" to an account instead of GUID, like any modern (competent) company.

IImaplers Wrote:Makes me wonder if Nexon uses the userID as the primary "link" to an account instead of GUID, like any modern (competent) company. Nope. According to the BMS schema when it leaked they use a userid, just like anyone else would, not the username. The rest of their structure is pretty idiotic though.
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.

It might seem like "it's just your ID" right now. Remember, you can easily lock someone's account by typing in the wrong pass 5 times. Hell, even some people get permabanned for typing in the wrong passwords, or so I heard. Next thing you know, hackers will somehow trace and link the email account registered to the login ID on the website. You won't be saying "it's just your email" next. There's been some weird database errors going on in Dragon Nest too. People claim to have their characters all wiped out, even though there hasn't been any rollback, except for a small one which the majority hasn't noticed. Remember that short period of time when people were logging onto other people's characters. Nexon's database is just full of loopholes. But then again, you expect a big company like this to become targeted, especially when there are millions worth of virtual gold to be raided off players. MSEA has so many problems; GMS is already lucky.
When hackers have the ability to track ID from rankings like MSEA, it'll be chaos. Maple taught me so much about internet security than I would have ever learned otherwise. Seems like Blizzard is the only good company that knows how to compensate and give players their peace of mind.

You don't get locked out for wrong passwords anymore, at least, it no longer happens for me.
2011-08-28, 03:20 AM
I used information from this thread to help put up an official thread on the topic on Basil.
I hope this isn't an evil thing to do. |
