Figured I'd make a beer thread, since I haven't ever seen one.
So, I know I'm not the only beer lover on these boards. I'm not a heavy drinker by any means, but I do love tasting new beers. I'll get this thing going with a few of my favorites. The point of this topic is just a laid-back chat about some of the best beer out there. Also, I'm hoping to see a few things that I haven't tried before. Sooooo, here we go.
My first beer, which just incidentally is my absolute favorite so far, is called Arrogant Bastard Ale:
It is an extremely dark beer, but it has the most bold flavor of anything I've ever tasted. Every time I take a sip, I try to wrap my mind around all the tastes I'm getting. It truly is an elite beer, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is a dark beer fan.
The second one actually is an extremely common beer, and it isn't dark by any means. It is something that is readily available, but I love all of it just the same. It is Heineken:
I think the reason I like Heineken so much is because, for a light beer, it has the most distinct, unique flavor.
The third one, which is right up there with Arrogant Bastard is Old Rasputin Imperial Stout:
If you're a dark beer lover like I am, you'll be able to taste the difference between Old Rasputin and something like Guinness.
Which brings me to number four, Guinness:
While Arrogant Bastard Ale is definitely my favorite of the dark category, Guinness is just a step below, right next to Old Rasputin in my book. Guinness is available pretty much anywhere liquor is sold, so more often than not when I go by a dark beer, Guinness is what I come home with
I'll post more depending on how much popularity this topic gets. Come at me with all of your favorites and suggestions!

If I'm drinking for fun, like with my brothers, I like a Rolling Rock.
But, if I'm getting drunk Labatts or Buds are my favorite. My brothers both brew their own beer and copy their favorites, like 90-minute IPAs from Wisconsin. Spotted Cow is their favorite.

My brother has an Arrogant Bastard sticker somewhere. He's too good to pay for beer anymore though because he brews his own (no pictures :[)
I haven't drank enough beer to like the taste too much yet, but there was SOMETHING i tried that wasn't so bad... I think it had orange in it. Maybe I didn't like it ider. (im more of a liquor person, for someone who doesn't drink much)

Beer thread, huh?
I had my 21st birthday recently, yet I still haven't had an alcoholic beverage.
What beer would you suggest for a first timer?

What beer would you suggest for a first timer? For a first timer? Wait for a sunny hot day, and get an ice cold Heineken!

That Bavaria White just got moved up to number one on my list of things to try. I hope I can find it here in the states. Oh, and Devil, I don't know why I missed that Duvel beer picture the last time I looked at this topic, but I actually picked up some of that in Austin the last time I was there. There's a Texas grocery chain called H-E-B, and they have a whole organic Central Market in Austin that specializes in hard-to-find, all-natural food and drink. They have a whole wall of imported, rare beer. That Duvel was amazing.

My current favorite:
Another one of my favorites:

Yeah I know, Duvel has a really nice taste, the only downside is that it's relative pricy (compared to normal pilsener), but that's because the brewing process takes twice as long. But it's worth it, every now and then! :+)
Another good one is Palm, also from Belgium, but that's a darker (amber) beer, however, it's not really for the summer months. They also have Palm Dobbel (Double), a special winter beer, but I never tried that one personally (should be even more dark).
And about Bavaria Wit 0.0%, I'm not sure if it's being exported to the USA yet, since it's a new beer from 2010. There is also "normal" Bavaria Malt 0.0% ( out since the 80's / 90's), but I like the new Wit variant better (more fresh).
