Seems like they're preparing a new part of Time Temple.
Verified all that Kremechoko has said.
Also found another tasty nugget:
"What do you think of the world on the other side of the Gate to the Future? Do you believe it? ...It is a lie. It's a waking dream, planted on Maple World by the Black Mage. The Gate to the Future has not opened. They failed in their original goal, so they tried to demoralize us by showing us a ruined future. Don't fall for this deception." - (seems to be) Shinsoo

Well, that certainly explains why that world would exist at all.
I'm guessing that new door will be their failed attempt to break into the past (since it does indeed look like past Leafre).

Come to think of it, the past Leafre could easily have us participating in the original Black Mage fight with the Black Wings attempting to make it as if he never lost.

I'm fairly sure that Neinheart is a badass.
I really want to see him in battle.

It would make sense if Pink Bean's summoning was a long-ago attempt at bringing back the Black Mage since the Black Wings don't seem involved in it at all.

That actually makes a lot of sense because, when you get your first Dream Fragment, you're told to take it to Neinhert.
I don't remember the text verbatim, but he definitely makes it sound like Dream Fragments are the remains of something that has been conjured up.

Of course, if the rest of what you say is true, it makes me wonder what the point of the Dream World is.
If it's not real, it's not a threat unless someone goes in it or something comes out of it.
I'm sticking to my idea that ToT is relative. I mean, what the pineapple is the Goddess' Mirror, an object that can grant any wish, doing in a throne room for what appears to be for no one, IN THE PAST. seems a little too random if you ask me. I think that the entirety of Memory Lane holds the memories of everyone that lives under the goddess, and that the future holds their dreams of what could be, in one big metaphorical moral lesson-type of place. All of this creates a form of time based harmony which allows the goddess to remain in her sleep, and the goal of the black magician is to wake her from that sleep for an ulterior motive. Whether that is to free himself from his prison or to simply destroy all life while he's safe behind his gates is the only thing I can't answer.

As for the black wings, I don't think they're anything more than Jessie and James to team rocket's Giovanni. Theyre the bumbling fools that only serve to stall the plot.

Viaje Wrote:I hope those MacGuffins get retconned out or retconned into something else.
The entire time I was doing those quests I kept thinking, "Oh, there's a set of mystical stones that are scattered because, if they're brought back together, they can free the Black Mage. Where have I heard that before?"

Every time a work of fiction has a sealed baddie who can be freed by a formula created by those who sealed him, I facedesk.

I agree that it's stupid, but I doubt Nexon's going to make the plight of the Black Mage a novel worthy plot.

EDIT: forgive me if I'm mistaken but didn't Ereve coat itself in a shield and fly away the moment the Black Mage took his stand? Don't really thing a past Ereve would give us much...

Oh, and twenty bucks on Neinheart being the Black Mage all along...

But the throne does have an owner...
...it belongs to the Goddess.
I thought that would be fairly apparent.

I don't believe that waking the Goddess would result in the destruction of Maple, though.

"If the promise has been broken, we might need to wake the Goddess up from her sleep."
"This doesn't simply concern the Temple of Time but it can affect the entire Maple World and its people. Don't just brush it off that easily."

Clearly, it would have a big impact, but it doesn't sound as dire as ultimate destruction.

Humorously enough, I originally viewed the Black Wings as another Team Rocket, but the Black Wings are actually quite competent.

They did manage to get all the Seal Stones and actually unleash the Black Mage, after all.

It doesn't have to be novel-worthy, but it doesn't have to be stupid either.

Fixed that. Said "Ereve", meant "Leafre".

If Neinheart is the Black Mage, I'll be extremely disappointed. Though he definitely is suspicious seeing as he has now twice been resistant to the Black Mage's power, he's been the voice of reason to counter Cygnus' dreams that can only be described as glory-hunting.
It would be a difficult twist to explain. (I also personally like the contrast presented between himself and Cygnus. It would be totally ruined if he turned out to be just as corruptible.)

Actually, I just came up with another crazy theory. Maybe Neinheart is one of the last two Heroes.

...then what would happen? We have no evidence that this isn't some huge Matrix-esque device, or simply one large dream. The evidence actually points that way.

I can see Neinheart being the Black Mage, really. He tries to dissuade the Empress Cygnus from helping Mercedes, is the only non-corrupted person in Future Ereve, and looks just... menacing. Monocle
I can't see him being a hero, he's too wussy to be a pirate or a thief. But, he's been with cygnus for however long she's been in power, which is quite some time...
hmmm.

Oh so it's fairly apparent that an omnipotent and omniscient woman who's been in a coma since the moment she came into existence, and exists solely in another dimension has a throne on a slab of rock, in our dimension, dedicated to the past, and (as far as we know) nowhere else? I don't see it, sorry.

No, The Gentleman, a single person, did. Everyone else just stalled the story while he did all the work.

EDIT: Neinheart isn't one of the heroes. He was hostile as pineapple to Aran when he tried to ask for their help, and actually accused him of being the enemy. Only after approval from others did he accept him, and even then, reluctantly.

about neinheart, i used to totally despise the guy, but after future ereve, not so much, he seems like the kind of guy that goes straight to the point, doesn't trust his own shadow, and is sharp as a tack, also, remember that the empress is still a "little girl" (however the eff that works) and if anyone remembers that story nexon put on their page about neinheart dissuading the princess to seek power in the maple tree, but rather, to join the explorers or something.

EDIT: and i can see the above post starting a fight, 10 bucks on it.

The Temple of Time probably isn't even a temple anymore. Its probably been converted into the Black Mage's hideout.

Or indeed... the Goddess IS the Black Mage, attempting to wake up her body so that she can destroy what she has created.

What I do know is that he:
a) Tried to convince Cygnus not to attack LHC. She didn't listen. The Knights got blamed for Ifnia's death, and Von Leon ended up joining the Black Mage.
b) Tried to convince Cygnus not to go after the World Tree. She didn't listen. It turned out to be a trap, and she ended up turning psychotically evil.

it would make sense that if this is the goddess dream, the place closer to her is where the "nightmare" lurks.

Though that would suggest the Black Mage has some close connection to the Goddess, and if indeed there is "Someone" in the Black Wings with the ability to create and control dreams/nightmares, wouldn't it be logical that the Black Mage itself is a nightmare created to scare the Goddess awake?

Someone with that kind of power could easily be much stronger than whatever the Black Mage is.

Viaje Wrote:Tried to convince Cygnus not to go after the World Tree. She didn't listen. It turned out to be a trap, and she ended up turning psychotically evil.
But wasn't that a "Nightmare Scenario" kinda deal? since it was revealed to be all a dream, such a conversation might never have occurred.

And more pressingly, that means that if the Cygnus Knights DID go for the World Tree, they could become more powerful, since it turned out to be a false future and not set in stone.

So the only part of that that didn't make sense was the part about the throne? Really?
Reeeeeeeeeeeeally?

Keep in mind that the throne is also referred to as an altar.

Oh, one more thing.
How exactly does it make sense to have a magical mirror, a mirror only able to be wielded properly by the aforementioned "comatose" (only not really, she's just sleeping) goddess who exists in another dimension, exist in a throne room in our dimension?
I don't see it, sorry.

Sounds like everyone else didn't exactly what he needed them to do.
Also, he's a member of the Black Wings, so....

Guess that would prevent him from being a Hero (assuming he didn't also experience brain-wipe.)

Everyone is having a good time, debating and stating their opinions, when you suddenly become rude enough to start a flame war. I don't get you.

On topic: You guys are going off the roof. Temple of Time IS a temple, dedicated to the goddes. The history of the Black Mage is also somehow related to Voldemort. In the Magatia storylines, the Black Mage seeks only for immortality, which he seems to have achieved. I need confirmation on this tough.

if we consider the black mage as the goddess' personal nightmare, someone with a fraction of his power creating a sub-nightmare seems plausible, don't forget that, even if a person created a fake dream world withing maple, the black mage tore apart maple itself in big bang

hey, nexon needed to make us stronger, so they used the black mage once again, they just didn't make much sense this time, also, for semi-joking lulz, i figured the plot! the empress is the redhead!

 Spoiler

that explains why she can be awakened inside the dream, who the black mage is/was or whatever, who the hero is, and everything else you might be wondering! (do note, i am semi-joking, it CAN make sense)

Do we even know exactly where the Goddess is?

And, are you asking my permission? Because 'want' would imply that I feel something more than apathy towards that question.

Someone with that kind of power could easily be much stronger than whatever the Black Mage is.
In that scenario, the Black Mage would become the tool rather than the master.
But then that brings up the question of why they had to revive him in the first place.

True enough about it probably not being real.
Though, along with that, I'd imagine the discovery of the World Tree was also a dream.

I didn't start a flame warrior nor have I been the most antagonistic in this recent discussion.
Seemingly, though, people are only able to detect my hostility and not the obvious hostility of others to which I am responding.

I do agree that the Temple of Time is a solid place.
And the Black Mage definitely has a "we're totally not ripping of Harry Potter" vibe, and he has since Edelstein was revealed.

Totally agree.

I've never considered Big Bang to be a part of the story. The only time NPCs even mentioned it was just after it happened, and that was only for the duration of events.
No one else even acts like something changed.

kinda, it's mostly an epileptic tree joke out of these two quotes:
Quote:"What do you think of the world on the other side of the Gate to the Future? Do you believe it? ...It is a lie. It's a waking dream, planted on Maple World by the Black Mage. Quote:b) Tried to convince Cygnus not to go after the World Tree. She didn't listen. It turned out to be a trap, and she ended up turning psychotically evil.

if the above is to be taken as an actual quote, it means that seeking the world tree won't lead to evil empresses, and in fact, the "gate to the future" was made by a henchman of the black mage to prevent the empress from doing it, which would mean neinheart was acting the same way the black mage wanted. preventing the empress from gaining more power to fight the BM

Assuming that scene ever happened at all, as Razmos indicated.
