[GMST] [1.00] Capture the Flag

You know what, in my opinion, was Nexon America's biggest mistake? Mentioning so many future Masteria areas with their related storyline, how they would look like and their names in the Masteria quests was.

Now, I'm not saying that they shouldn't have planned in advance the areas' names, look and storyline, but.. maybe if they didn't mention them in the quests it'd have been better.

Why? It's simple: because by doing that, they indirectly hyped the mentioned areas, without even being sure of releasing them. Now, I do know that those elements made the quests and the whole thing much more interesting, but it's also true that, as you can see, as soon as they became unable to release the mentioned areas, many people were left with a deep disappointment feeling.

What I'm saying is: they should've predicted that stuff like this happens in companies (important members of the staff leaving for better job proposals, etc.), especially if the rumour of them underpaying their staff members is true (wouldn't be surprised if it was). Therefore, they should've refrained from unveiling so many "future Masteria areas" before they were even sure they could release them. If they really wanted to do that, they could've released new quests as soon as the development for the next area which was mentioned in them had already started. That way, at least players wouldn't have been left with such a disappointment, and the quests would've been as interesting.

What's the point of mentioning 10 (or however many they are) area names, storylines and whatnot if you're not even sure you'll be able to release them? Again, I'm aware that they are elements which make quests more interesting, but as you can see, it ends up disappointing many, many people when they end up not being possible to make for various reasons. Especially when there are quests such as "Cool As Ice" which tell you that "the adventure has just begun" and "who knows what could be next? maybe the answer lies in the Krakian Jungle?" and clearly want to hype future areas, which, like in this case, probably weren't even started.

There is a reason Nexon Korea almost never does that.

Now, I'm not saying it's impossible that more Masteria content would be released in the future. That would be stupid, as we haven't had any official answer from Nexon about it, yet. But how long has it been since a new Masteria area was released? Several years, that I'm sure, and seeing how this patch still isn't that, my hopes for that happening are now close to none. And really, seeing the kind of "exclusive content" they've released in the past few years, I'm pretty sure that, if they had to make something such as a new Masteria area without the help of the "great minds" (Prose, JoeW), it probably wouldn't come out as well. They seem to lack of creativity for a storyline and new maps. They only showed A LITTLE in last year's Visitor event, and, even then, it was just 1/10 of that which you can find in Masteria. Also, they've mainly been releasing new game systems lately (CvP, CvP 2, Capture the Flag, etc.), but no storylines of any kinds.

Therefore, I guess I'm going to quote Sarah on this.

Sarah Wrote:Glad it wasn't masteria though.

At least until they hire better game developing staff.

Anyways, I wasn't really expecting much from this, and I guess I was right. The e-mail with the PvP background in the "exclusive content" section was hinting to the right thing. Afterall, if they were to release Masteria content, I'm pretty sure they'd have put a background of that, there.

I guess we can just hope it's not too laggy and it gives good EXP.

Also, I'm glad they've added the revamped version of the Monster Book (mainly hoping for the drops to be dynamic - that'd REALLY be great and make it worth it) and the instanced area bosses is a great idea I was hoping would've been added. That shoulderpad also looks great, but it makes all the work for the Strawberry one useless. Stupid me for spending my time to get a shoulderpad which is even worse than the crafted ones, I guess.

I also find it funny how they practically copy-pasta'd almost everything from JMS. They added cards of monsters which are NOT released (and probably never going to be), items left with japanese strings, outdated Monster Book droplists and whatnot. This just shows their incompetence in programming and how we likely shouldn't be expecting anything big from them. It's already much that they were able to make a new PvP mode.

Overall, the patch is not too bad. But it could've been better.

People really, really, need to stop this silly retarded notion of copypasta being something to look down upon. Copypasta is only a bloody problem if they do not test it at all before release, which they do. Bugs are just as common in non copypasta'd material, so please don't let it ruin your day just because you read some forums and get biased by idiocies of others.

I personally have mixed feelings for this. It seems interesting enough, but truth be told, I was hoping for Masteria content. I know it's a little too late for that now, and I wont complain. I'll just hope this new stuff is worth it.
These hands can only destroy... But for them, I'd destroy it all.

Not generally true.
Nexon has been copy pasting for ages and they always seem to mess it up. This version has so many glitches it's freaking amazing. Then there's also the memory leak problem I only experience in gMS. When Nexon copy pastes things it usually ends up with a lot of content being neglected whilst it isn't working properly. Take a look for example the Lucky Guy Medal and how it has a ? instead of a ★. What is the reason for that? There is none. There's also the other fact that the tooltip over the character stats are off due to them neglecting the fact that more things were added to the stat list. These are all bugs I've reported in either tespia or via ticket and chances are it won't get looked at. Just because people apply bugs doesn't mean they fix them, and I know that you know this too.

Yes, but what I means is that copypasta is not to blame by itself, it is the way Nexon handles ANY material. Their exclusive stuff is as ridden by bugs as the rest.

Excited for Monster Card, we never got it in eMS so I missed it the first time. D:

...all mobs drop Christmas items?

I am not disappointed in this. Nexon promised us exclusive content. This content is promised as part of the Chaos cycle. 1/5 of a patch cycle is not a huge release. It would be most reasonable to expect that the GMS exclusive content would be PART of the Chaos cycle. Since 1 PvP mode was Part 4, it's not unreasonable to have another PvP mode be part 5. When some one tells me that I am getting 3 gifts for Christmas, I don't expect any one of them to completely outvalue all the rest. If we got a full masteria update, it would make the rest of Chaos look like trifles.

At any rate, I am betting that all this Monster Book data is simply that: Data. I bet it won't be active until Fall in a 'back to school' update. Then you'll all rage hard.

So real Mastery Books are dropping again instead of those mystery ones?

This "exclusive content" is disappointing as hell. We're lucky to get JMS stuff tho...

Mini boss =/= Major Boss, sorry.

I meant major bosses like Zak, HT, PB, Toad boss, Empress, etc. They had a ridiculous high drop rate on their monster card while the "Mini" bosses, such as ZMM, BMM, etc, they had a ridiculous low drop rate. I know how it felt just hunting for the ZMM card back in the day lol

masterzero Wrote:Yep , I played ctf in ragnarok online and there was a very strict limit on movement skills and your hp lowered each second to boot so even with a tank class you wouldn't be immortal

I don't think they're not going to implement a system like that.. it would make the game mode unbalanced if not , and they can disable specific skills in pvp so I don't see why not

Too bad this is NexonNA we're talking about here. They left in every skill in a usable state for PvP in general. The chances of them actually disabling all movement enhancing skills is slim to none when comparing to NexonNA's past records.

Sunlight Wrote:So real Mastery Books are dropping again instead of those mystery ones?

No, NexonNA didn't bother updating JMS's drop list and did a full-on copypasta. The entire drop list for every monster from the monster book is outdated.

By all that is sacred in this world, I hope you are joking about the bolded part.

Furthermore, I have something I think I'd like to share with you: I think Nexon doesn't like Southperricans at all. This is why they do this sort of copypasta - they know you have a beef against them, so they copypasta to make you guys leave their precious game. Then when you no longer cover this stuff, they can start REALLY taking Maple up a notch.

In my opinion, you guys aren't their target audience - the kids are. NX is not meant to be bought $500 in bulk, like some people do, but rather overtime - which I think is the true way they designed the cash shop - learn not to appreciate everything inside it, and suddenly the base game is more fun.

Other than that, has Fiel actually bothered to see what the Dialogue for those NPCs is (not the Speech Bubbles, but what they say when you actually speak to them)? Because methinks that they'll tweak the Silent Brigade to where it has something to do with the Black Mage, making it exclusive (that's assuming Cross/Silent Brigade isn't like this in Japan).

Content can be exclusive by modifying parts of it (look at the Neo City and Kerning Square nonsense - maybe the graphics are copy-pasta, but not the storyline; not for Kerning Square at least).

Remember - never judge a book by its cover.

I'm afraid you're right.
Following their new one-patch-for-three-updates system, the 1.00 version includes the updates for August, September, and October.
Stands to reason the August part is only the Capture the Flag, and all the other stuff is slated for September-October.

I wouldn't have cared if it were just "part 5 of chaos", yet another PvP mode. But this is the much-hyped "version 1.00" "exclusive content", and to have it be no more impressive of an update than Ice Knight is Tongue

Ah well. Back to sleep.

These monster cards, I will surely love. Gives me something else to do instead of gaining exp:p

Is it true we will be getting ele staffs 1-8 as drops from random mobs? EStaff 5=Skelosaurus: That's 200k NX boys, or 8B in mesos. Guess where I'll be.

I don't get what's with people believing the JMS monster book drop tables to be 100% accurate. THEY'RE COMPLETELY OUTDATED! NexonNA only did a full-on copypasta of the book and nothing else, they haven't updated it one bit to fit with our drop tables. STOP ASKING IF "XYZ" WILL DROP FOR US! Rolleyes

Y'know, I just, for one, hope that this Silent/Cross Brigade has something to do with one of these two factions:

-Black Wings
-Goetia

Knowing that GMS can change the storylines of any content that comes their way (as can kMS or any branch of Maple), I wouldn't be surprised if Silent Crusade was some kind of organization dealing with the Black Mage, and Bastille is a liason/agent/mercenary/tool of the Black Wings, while Crow and Sheryl are his tools.

On another note: Sheryl, and Crow. Put em together, whaddya get?
