We don't need to hear "the sky is falling" in every single thread.
You should probably pull yourself out too.

Just breathe and accept the fact that you don't know pomegranate about what's happening within the company and that your speculation is not grounded. You have no reason to believe people are quitting. You have no reason to believe there are staff issues. You have no reason to believe they had some ridiculously pricey expense that was totally unforeseen. You're just making pomegranate up so your mind can rationalize the rash of exploits.

Or you know, you could be wrong, so terribly and hilariously wrong. =)

Concept Artist? That intrigues me. Very much so.

Also, lol at QA being strictly temp position.

Very sad indeed, to know that we likely lost such an awesome developer because of Nexon not willing to give higher salaries..

Really? Cause they're not doing too hot.
They've been cutting projects like crazy lately, actually.

To your previous comments:
There is nothing wrong with speculation. There is, however, something wrong with echoing your speculation across several threads as if it were fact.

ShanghaiDizzy Wrote:The speculations have ground for the most part. I recall seeing a thread once on SP (can't find it for the life of me though) where it showed staff positions in developer work, GM's, website maintenance, etc. All of which yielded US minimum wage (slightly a bit more for GMs funnily enough). So seriously, why work for Nexon and exhaust your talents when a burger flipper at the local fast food restaurant nets the same pay as you?
Since you have such trouble citing your sources, I guess all we have is this.

None of the positions have salaries listed.
However, I find it hard to believe that developers are getting an hourly wage.

CommanderJinn Wrote:Or you know, you could be wrong, so terribly and hilariously wrong. =)
Humorous that I was just citing that same source.

Now, care to explain how those job listings are relevant to the comment which you quoted?
Because I fail to see how any of those listings indicate a company in trouble.
I'm betting you didn't even bother to read the job descriptions.

So either have something meaningful to say or shuffle off.
Your sense of victory is as immature as it is unwarranted.
EDIT: Whoops. Want to make sure I put a smiley face. Big Grin There. Now my post is valid.

I feel like what I posted earlier was misunderstood.
(as Darkmonkey13) I asked if I could simply go to one of the lower levels, and due to me being a much higher level than them, be able to do much better, even with the same skills.
Would this or would this not be feasible in terms of pwnage and rewards?

Since when is a company's income directly proportional to their quality? I said they are not a bad company OVERALL, not that they are doing well financially.

Nexon America's just the example which proves that it isn't, since they've never been a particularly good company at all, yet, as your same link states, they've been doing pretty good financially in the first quarter of the year. If I suppose they might be having financial issues now it's just because they're doing WORSE than usual.

Cutting projects doesn't mean they're a bad company, either. Those are issues which several gaming companies bump into. You judge a company from several other factors rather than just those.

Because some of those jobs are pretty important. I mean sure, they could have a few people in those positions, with the exception of the Software Development and Technology Director (I'm pretty sure that's a one man job), but I highly doubt that they're not in trouble if they're looking for System Engineers, Software Engineers, Security Engineers, and Database Admins. The fact they're looking in the first place for some pretty high profile jobs just means they're understaffed.

Why can't I find that thread with reported pays for GMs..
...sigh.

It was like $7.25 an hour.

$7.25/h is pretty damn good for a GM who does what is stated below while my dad gets $8/h for what he does stated below.

My dad:
Opening the store at 5AM
Preparing food items with care
Kneading dough/making batter
Anything else, this also includes being a cashier at times

GMs (what I'm assuming):
- Making pulled-fresh-from-the-ass events
- USE A FLIPPING SODA MACHINE
- Choosing the 'Canned Answer' when answering tickets

The have one opening for Content Designer. Don't tell me they have only 1 of those lol. If they only need say at most 2-3 for a position then NEXON isn't losing much.

You forgot to insert SPILL SODA WHERE IT DOESN'T BELONG, if, of course, that wasn't some metaphor.

That's not the source nor even really a source. I have as much trouble as Locked is trying to find it and it's definitely something posted on Southperry.

If you think about it, being a GM sucks pretty hard.
Not allowed to talk to anyone, not allowed to trade items/mesos, not allowed to train, not allowed to even show themselves, always just observing. Not allowed to kill bosses, not allowed to socialize, not allowed to use their GM commands. If i was a GM I wouldn't log on either.

Thats a lot of money to sit there and answer nobodies questions...

I would go on Maple just for the fun of being a GM. And I think they can talk... thats the stupidest thing I have ever heard.

@Blades4hire that's why you wouldn't make a very good GM. It's a job to keep order in a game overrun by spoiled children who have no patience or self-control, being a GM is not something to showoff.

God Entity: Bender, being God isn't easy. If you do too much, people get dependent on you. And if you do nothing, they lose hope. You have to use a light touch, like a safecracker or a pickpocket.
Bender: Or a guy who burns down a bar for the insurance money.
God Entity: Yes, if you make it look like an electrical thing. When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.

I never said I would make a good GMRolleyes
On a related note, I remember something i read on lolbasil about some GMs in msea who created unreleased VIP weapons and sold them for thousands of dollars, and eventually got fired. Doesnt sound surprising if they were only paid $7 an hour.

2nd time I'll say this.
Do you see these lists?

These are all manual bans from Game Masters. The autoban system will never permaban anyone.
You might say stupid things like "lol those are just bots". Regardless, read hacking forums and you'll see countless threads of people getting permabanned. GMs do their work, albeit not to the extent that will satisfy the children that play this game but they still do work.

The 7.25 numbers must be pretty old, because minimum wage in CA is like 8.75 now.

Edit: EITHER WAY. Getting paid to sit on your ass is way better than flipping burgers.
