I distinctly remember a certain Letter to the Maple Community in which they did claim to improve Maple for the players.
and for a while, they did. Then after a while fell right back into crappy condition.
in other words: I'll believe it when i see and it STAYS like that.

to add into it, most of the hacking forums survive with the VIP content and the ads. if nexon make it hard to make hacks, these hacking websites wont have too much content to give to the public, and maybe they will eventually close, cutting down some sources.
how much do you think w8 make per month? it have over 1000 Vip accounts, to buy the VIP hack there is like $35, do the math.

There's only a few dozen people who actually write the programs' that are damaging our game. You guy's are giving way to much credit to this "group". Most players go to 3 relatively known sites, download it with an instruction book and abuseabuseabuse. Others buy "Program plan's", same process. If you take out the site, you take out I would indefinately say 70% of the hacking commmunity, easily.
Also most of these kid's who run these websites are at latest, mid 20's, and would fucking piss themselves at the site of one court summoning concerning their site.
And what offense, prove they are losing money and the game is being damaged by said hacks. I think DOSing a server would be applicable? It's just funny too me they threaten PS users who steal their code, but don't do jack to people who have the off switch to their game.

New "advanced hack prevention tool" for nexon = new toy for hackers to easily screw with. Dumbass notices like this aren't helping. Fix the game up, THEN give us notices. The first step is to actually patrol the game competently, and by that I mean GMs actually being in the game (Gasp!). Secondly, use all your freaking resources, you still (for how long?) have a few legit players willing to help you out but you choose to piss on what they have to say. You have the ETLs right here on this site which easily showed OBVIOUS IRM hackers gaining 500 MIL exp per day and going from 1-150 in like a week, yet now they are still playing this game with those same characters. Currently there are OBVIOUS duped items in FM which you still choose to overlook, even in servers with only a few FM rooms filled out. Seriously! How much more stupid can this company get? Thirdly, I'd say re-code the files, but this is Nexon, they are only good at one thing code-wise, and that is cut+pasting it.

How many of those recent DDOS attacks that have filled our media for the past two months have resulted in someone being charged with a crime?

they aren't stealing anything from nexon, they aren't showing intellectual property from nexon, find a law that say hacking an online game is crime.
Ubisoft tried to take down razor1911 for trying to crack assassin creed2, worked? no.
do you think all that hacking hurt nexon business at all? if it did im pretty sure they would do something, most of the hackers make profit for nexon, just take a look @ all the 27atack snowshoes hackers sold in MTS, thats pure profit for nexon, since afterall, nexon will ban/banned the people that bought the snowshoes, and these people will just make a new char and start over again. if they banned the hacker with 1kk of nx made over mts, its 1kk profit for nexon where the hacker wont do anything with that nx.
if it was really hurting nexon's business, they would do something fast against it.
and if nexon close w8, they just can open a new forum, happened with mininova.org, they opened a new forum called mightnova.org

There's been like 8 people arrested in the last month, stronger security is one thing, but simply fortifying yourself and sitting there like a duck, eventually the enemy, in this metaphor, is going to get bored, use superweapons/long range combat in order to attack the defenses.
Assuming nexon does do something right, you also have to assume they are going to continue to adapt to these "inventive ways". You can't just sit there and expect hackers to simply give up, like I can't expect that closing down a few websites will eradicate them. But one thing both our solutions will do is slow down the traffic immensely which is my point.

A few dozen? Where are your facts? Most players using roughly 3 websites? Where are your facts?
You don't think about:
How many possible websites are out there.
How many are strictly private.
How many people create the programs privately, never even bothering with a website.
How many websites aren't even in English.
How many aren't even located in the US. (Good luck trying to stop websites in other countries/languages)
List goes on.
Edit: Your plan of attack is pomegranate in this case, as it doesn't combat the -real- issues. Sure, you'll be focusing on the websites and programs themselves, but more spring up elsewhere and do the same pomegranate to the game as before since they haven't focused enough on improving the -game's- defenses.
Trying to go after the websites is an unrealistic method.

Substantiating proof of those arrests please?
That aside; There are no super-weapons. DOS attacks are the last resort for an impregnable enemy, that's why they've been doing them to sites they can't find ways into. If Nexon would just fix their frelcked up relation between client and server and have the servers actually be the brains rather than the mules every single hack short of map crashing would be gone. And if map crashing is DOSing and can be proven it can be prosecuted and dealt with too.
Sometimes the best offense is not making yourself a willing victim.

Yeah let me just prove god exists too while I'm at it! Asking for something so stupid just proves your cornered.

Better question, why are those relevant? I don't know what you're talking about, but I'm talking about traffic control, so the websites, which you happened to list, that are public are the ones that need to go because that's where the traffic comes from.
Private websites, private users, how much damage do they do? pineapple I bet you don't even know when they are actually hacking. When pomegranate get's public, by high traffic sites, dedicated to pomegranate like this, thats when roll backs happen, server goes down for maitinence, which costs them money.
How many websites aren't even in English.
案山子 Wrote:How many aren't even located in the US. (Good luck trying to stop websites in other countries/languages)
Pretty sure Odin was located in Europe, but I'm not going to act like I understand international law in these circumstances. NexonEU maybe pushed to take action themselves but that's just an out of the air option.
Also making programs that aren't written in English, definitely limit's the amount of usage players can use on it. Sure some dillweed will eventually translate it but once again, that traffic is going to be limited.
List goes on.

Uh, where did I deny strengthening defenses is the way to go? My point is, it isn't the only thing they need to do to solve this. As explained previously, being a sitting duck is just prolonging the inevitible. I would also like to mention your revenue argument also back firing on you.
You gave a hydra example of closing down these sites as well, which would only backfire on them further. You have even stated the websites revenue is based off these VIP plans, well I can gurrantee you, as a citizen with common sense, if several sites offering the same thing get closed down for the same reason, I'm going to be hesistant about buying a 3month VIP plan. Why? Because it may not even last 3 months, their solution? Lower the price? Well how low are you willing to go until your essentially putting up websites for free. Which a lot of people, from my understanding won't believe the effort is worth it.
Building up a decent defense in my opinion is mandatory, but that isn't gonna control pomegranate when you have hundreds of people attacking the same wall. Even if it's one at a time, eventually it's going to break.
And Eos, as I said before, I'm not in anyway saying a defense is completely useless, just not something to be dependent on.

Everything that you've said however would be unnecessary if they just fixed the damn code.
No giant hole? No sites dedicated to using that hole.
You don't try to devise a way to drain the ocean to save your sinking ship - You patch the ship and bail water till the patching is done.
The hacking sites are a symptom of the problem, not the actual problem.
You don't treat with palliatives when a cure is available; you cure the illness.
I get the sense you want to attack the hackers because you're mad at them, but that's pointless. They're just roaches doing what roaches do. You leave food out they try to eat. Starving them is the simple solution that begins the recovery process.

hopefully gMS does a good job. After the anti-hack patch the server hasnt been lagging in msea so far.
And the extreme lag/latency we have been experiencing was thanks to the number of botters around. The server went stable again when GMs mass banned most of them but it was getting laggier again this past few days.
so i hope this works out for msea and gms.

It seem's sound to me, but I also have no clue of what mess they'd have to go through to implement that. I mean can you name any negative reasons that essentially hold it back? I doubt money is a big one, sound's like a good investment even if it's costly.

For one, they can't do it unless KMS does it, and KMS has no incentive to do it because KMS uses the KSSN to control their problems while GMS doesn't have that option, being global.
Two, it will be more stress on their hardware because instead of their servers just passively doing everything the client tells them to they'll have to evaluate every request they get to see if it's reasonable.
From a coding standpoint it honestly shouldn't take much, it's adding an "if" everywhere an "if" should be. Tedious but easy enoug a 2nd grader could do it.
It may be time consuming but the payoff is virtually infinite and this is the absolute most basic security anyone who's ever so much as thought of writing a client/server relationship should know from the get go.

Ya know, in one of their "blockparty" commercials, they were mentioning how they have to come up with inventive ways because of how KMS does things. I wonder if they're just about to say pineapple it and ask for that last 4 of your social. lol

That'd only work for North American players, and wouldn't be unique in any way shape or form so wouldn't actually gain them anything.
Just a whole bunch of random four digit numbers.
