Seriously. I accidentally watched this live performance of Lady Gaga and I lol'd irl. Lady Playback... I really like Alejandro, but I wouldn't give Gaga credit for that.

Same goes for Justin Bieber. What you gotta do to get a whole music factory to turn you into a "good singer"?

No really, this goes for many singers nowadays. If they can't sing, do they honestly deserve all those millions?

as ridiculous as this typical satellite thread is, realistically her fame is not from her musical talent. artistic i would've given you. She makes controversial and stunning stylistic choices which in turn is used to push her product. It's madonna all over again except i think madonna had more raw talent. It is captivating to the public. Get good producers, beats, and mixers behind it and it is enough.

She doesn't rank amongst the best history has ever seen. Her songs are like most others of her genre, just re-using the styles and behaviors of musicians of the past.
She makes some good songs, yes, I find a few pretty catchy, but a lot of them are amateur's work, though whether she is to blame, or her label, etc, who knows?

Like said before, it's not her music that keeps people tuning in for more. If you have a certain look and at least a somewhat decent sound then people still flock to you, and it's been this way for decades. There's plenty of ''big stars'' from the past who were terrible, but their looks or actions kept them shining.

You'd be mistaken. I don't give a damn about her looks, her stunts, her beliefs or her as a brand in any particular way. All that crap is just a distraction. The few songs of hers I listen to I do so because they entertain me. Don't make blanket assumptions that everyone operates the same way.

She has talent buried down that crappy facade. However, she hides it very well lately. She has good songs, yet she started going mainstream, making songs that will be well known regardless because everyone says they will be. It's like a paradox.

Silly Satellite, she sang on the record. She's sang live before numerous times, including playing piano arrangements of her songs simultaneously. I'm not even a Gaga fan, but I'd say she's more musically talented than most people.

But I've found that what I listened of her second album has lost some of the magic and what made me like her some of her earlier songs. I should really listen to all songs on it someday to form a proper opinion.

The last person who wowed me with their voice was Adele, but I don't listen to radio so I miss out on a lot of current music. Then again, her act is basically a copy of soul singing...(the cynical part of me sees it as a continuation of the whitewashing of black music for popular consumption, but then I remember I still like Led Zeppelin.)

Try not to expect anything of superior quality from pop music/culture. They're making money off catering to the lowest common denominator, and it's working. Doesn't mean it can't also be entertaining at the same time.

I just avoid it altogether. The one-in-a-lifetime good mainstream stuff is not worth pulling all my hair out for. Unless you mean entertaining in a different way, then why yes, I concur.

I know you absolutely hate everything about her and your opinion is set in stone so trying to argue with you about her would be a waste of time.

I don't think she is the greatest thing that's ever happened but I think people misjudge her based on her outrageous outfits and whatnot. Bottom line is she can sing well live, which is rather rare these days :l, never lip syncs, can handle some difficult dance routines, writes/co-writes every one of her songs and plays the piano very well. The outfits are just all part of the production, icing on the cake if you will. She's a pop artist, they're known for being extravagant. She said herself something along the lines of, "I believe that I have mastered the art of fame", which I could agree with. She has the shock value with her costumes, the devoted fan base and the talent to back it all up.
Not to mention she's got such a great attitude toward her fans encouraging them to be who they want, don't let others get you down etc. Her interviews are really interesting to watch when she explains her songs or her path to becoming famous. I think she deserves all her success because how hard she worked for it.

I have a thing with music that I feel the need to be always going to different genres suddenly, once I grow tired of something (by listening to it to exhaustion) I need to change to something new. I also tend to go for unusual stuff (both in the sense of non-mainstream or changing what genre I like, I've went through pop rock, metal, j-rock/j-pop, anime songs, pop music, rock, old rock, movie songs, pop music, hard rock, electronic, fanmade cartoon music and I'm almost at the point I'm gonna need to find something else to listen to)

I think it would be unfair to say Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber have no talent, because from what I have heard they can at least sing. However I think there are musicians out there that are far better than both of them that you never even hear of. Its really a matter of how well you market yourself and how lucky you get these days.
