i was wondering how do people get that animation ? i saw it on spadows blog before but thats really old and i doubt i can find that post.

The Explorer's Critical Rings will do that with their small chance or instant death or stun. I think the rare weapon potentials like % chance stun will do it too, but not certain.

Mostly, stuff that inflicts statuses, from potentials or weapons with that kind of properties. Like those weapons from the explorer events.

Just to add to this. "Explorer's" weapons from the "Return of the Explorers" event can also cause this effect if they have a % chance to inflict a status ailment.
