E3 Discussion

Once Upon a Monster looks like a wonderful child-parent experience. That presentation was so heart-warming. "Do it like this Daddy!" HNNNNG

God Kinect looks so embarrassing. I want to kill myself out of embarrassment just watching.

I'll have to give Microsoft a D+. It's the best I could do.

I used to light on the rail shooters when I was younger and in the arcades. Just picking up a light gun and shooting stuff. But why are so many on the rails coming out now? They're cool for certain stuff, but I can't see how something like Fable would work for it.

Not going to judge Microsoft yet until I see Sony's and Nintendo's, but overall it was pretty good. Yes, there was Kinect stuff that we could have done without, but with Bing, Youtube, UFC Live, Live TV in the new Dashboard Microsoft is sure pushing for the "everything in one box" media experience which they're nailing.

But none of that is video games!

Buy a computer, it does all of that -- better.

I thought the conference was really good actually. You can't hate them for trying to branch out on their new device; the technology behind it is actually really good and I'm truly glad to see it's not just DANCAN AND MICHAEL JACKSON on the Kinect.

They reached out to families, hardcore gamers, Kinect owners, future Kinect owners, people against the Kinect for being too basic, the media crowd, sports fans, and even though they're trying too hard to make the Halo franchise go on strong, their idea is kind of swell.

The people who complain about the press conference are just not pleased because nothing they enjoyed was in it.

You're forgetting that the main audience that Microsoft used to cater to (frat boys) doesn't give a crap about motion control, and voice commands. This is just a poor attempt at copying Nintendo because they saw how popular "casual" gaming was to kids, mothers and geriatrics.

Now that Microsoft and Sony took the bait, Nintendo is going to move in an entirely different direction. justasplanned.jpg

I have no doubt in my mind that Nintendo will dominate this year, but I'm not gonna hate on a conference that is merely trying to incorporate more of a fan base. I respected their reaching out to other peoples. To be honest I would probably rather play the Disneyland Adventures game with a 8 year old than play Call of Duty online with a 24 year old that acts like he's 13.

I am excited about Modern Warfare 3, Mass Effect 3, Tomb Raider, but those aren't exclusive so no point in hooplah over them. The one nice thing is how they're using Kinect in Mass Effect 3 and Ghost Recon, that's why I got a Kinect. Subtle and simple to take the depth to a new level. On top of that, Minecraft is cool.

They're shooting for simple, which I like and will definitely use. On top of that, with all the other crap they have you can get an Xbox for a family and it's cheaper than a computer.

GTTV showed some gameplay of Skyrim, Batman: Arkham City, and CoD: MW3.

It was an okay conference nothing that really jumped out.

I think Kinect is a great piece of hardware/software. But I’m still not convinced it is a gaming device. Nothing seemed that great to me on the Kinect front.

I guess they are giving all their products the Metro UI overhaul, even xbox. At least it keeps things fresh.

All the extras like Youtube and stuff don’t mean much to me really. I know Microsoft really want to now push the xbox as an all round entertainment device but I just use it to play games.
