Grenade
#1
So I went back to my old pirate (and looked at the guides for post-Big Bang gunslingers) and found that it's still classed as a useless skill. However, if I was to try practising aiming and managed to get a reasonable degree of accuracy off of it, would it still be that bad? It does 280% damage with 80% DOT for 8 seconds at max level to 6 monsters, that's a whopping load more than invisible shot's 3xx% to 3 monsters. I understand that it would still be slower to aim, but it looks loads more fun. Any input?

If you're going for fun (and think that tossing grenades is fun - nothing wrong with that), then by all means get the skill.

But don't expect it to be anywhere useful. I mean, try hitting 6 monsters with one grenade and then come back to tell us how many tries that took you. Wink

Yeah, the AOE blast range still sucks. Thanks for the answer though. Confused

Stacking Grenade and Flamethrower DoT on a multi-part boss like Zakum could get pretty awesome though.

They don't stack?

Or is it just impractical because of grenade's pomegranaty range?

It's the latter. I've personally tested that they stack; it's just that aiming Grenade properly is hellish and the DoT's so short it'll be too annoying (and stupid) to actually use it.

Using Flamethrower with maxed Elemental Boost with Cannon is a net gain of theoretically ~50%/s. Using Grenade with Cannon is theoretically a net loss of ~124%/s

Using Flamethrower with maxed Elemental Boost with Torpedo is a theoretical gain of 126%/s per target. Using Grenade with Torpedo is a theoretical gain of 27%/s per target.

However, Grenade cannot fire at standard speed and hit more than one target in any bossing scenario, if any targets at all. If it were a full screen AoE that required no charging, it would still be very marginal of helpfulness, and only on bosses that did not resist fire.
