Removing/Nerfing Onyx Apples-How would it effect the game?
#1
I'm wondering, if Nexon was to remove/nerf Onyx Apples, how much would it do to the game? Personally, I don't think it would make too big of a deal.

What do you think?

I never use Apples so it would make no difference to me at all.

HT/Zak runs would take even longer so people would need more pots to survive, this might make people use NX to expand their slots even more.

It would cause inflation on prices of zakum helmets and horntail necklaces/eggs, along with inflation of the equipments and skillbooks those bosses drop.

Well, we all know that Night Lords are one of the better classes in the game at Zakum, might be the best (argumentable).. so without Onyx Apples, Night Lords will take it down even slower. However, without Onyx Apples, people will want more Night Lords for Zakum to kill it faster IMO. So NLs will be wanted for Zakum even more than now.

As for the economy, without Onyx Apples, perhaps prices of certain scrolls and equipments, especially other weapon-attack pots will inflate.

Everything will inflate unless say other atk pots similar to Onyx's are released.

Well, not everything but a lot.

I think taken out Onyx Apples would be a fantastic idea...

- Zhelm/Horntail pendant prices increase - good... there's too many lvl 50s running around with bought helms
- More pots used in boss runs - good because it takes more mesos out of the economy
- Less pure meso in the economy - good because it should logically cause general deflation (I put should because we all know MS economics are often stupid)
- NLs aren't as broken at bosses - good, puts lots of other classes on par
- Zakum/HT skillbooks and drop prices increase - good for overall economy (more money wasted in taxes), bad for individual players
- No more apples - almost no marriages bought - bad for Nexon

Of course, that last point is enough by itself to convince me that they won't take them out without replacing them with something just as ridiculous...

Ah, sorry , the correct anwser we were looking for was heroes and bowmasters in the situation apples were removed.

Less Mariages WAY LESS.

NLs get a bigger boost from apples than any other classes, so if apples are removed, they therefore take the biggest hit in popularity at zruns. It wouldn't be a big hit (just as their advantage from using apples isn't -that- big), but they certainly wouldn't become any more popular as a result.

All the other versions seem to have done fine without Onyx apples (well MSea did recently acquire them). So I think we'd be fine.

if look at warriors, dks and heroes solo zakum will have an average faster zak solo time than nls (of course tt is 1v1 brandish and crusher can hit zak and mod control but i believe red katana heroes are more capable of higher dps since they dont need to rely on critical hits. an nl is only has the best dps with both apples and se.

Nobody better touch those Onyx Apples. D: It's seriously like... my best source of meso income.

But really, it would be very very bad if they were altered/removed, since a lot of people depend on them on boss runs. No apples = longer boss runs = spikes in boss run costs = less runs = etcetc.

those demon elixirs (130 atk?) will over inflate and 20-30 atk pots will be worth something

I'm pretty sure Zakum helmets would end up cheaper, or not change at all.

For an 8 attacker run, that's 8 apples, 20mil. There's no way 20mil extra in hp/mp pots are used up on an apple-less run. If the run costs go down, why would prices rise?

They will increase. People use a lot more time killing zak, and people's too lazy to kill zak in that much time for that low amount of money. Kinda.

Oooh, you brought up a very good point. Heroes does have better DPS at Zakum since they can 2x3 arms. Crusher can 3x3 if timed right..

NLs attacks the arms individually, there's the problem. Also, they really aren't at their peak without an apple and SE. Heroes/Drk Knights wouldn't need SE to even kill Zakum. Heroes and Darks would surely take out the arms faster, for sure..

I have no clue how a Hero can fair against a Night Lord at Zakum body though.. <_< Feel free to elaborate on that.. As for Darks, I already know how fast they kill Zak bodies. @_@;;;

I haven't read everyone's full replies, and I may be repeating a few of them yet:

If apples are nerfed, there will be quite a few pissed off people. And by a few, I mean a ton. I understand where you think that it doesn't effect you terribly much, yet in the terms of a melee class, it means the world difference. Especially night lords, as I've seen someone say. With mages, your magic attack is already probably high as it is. 100 more won't really effect you. Maybe 500 more damage or something.

And a reason why I know Nexon won't nerf in GMS, they love the money that they make in cards to get people married. No apples = less marriages = Nexon unsatisfied.

Removing Onyx Apples will increase the stability in the game, and remove the reason to get married.

They could easily just decrease the drop rate on Onyx Apples to be really rare and add something of similar to Onyx Apple's current drop rate to aPQ that has a more fair stat boost, like, say, 35 weapon attack 100 magic attack.

This way, the absurd boost is relegated to something which has a high cost rather than low, while still maintaining aPQ's usefulness in the economy, and finally, brings better crossclass balance, allowing for other classes to become recognizable as useful.

But then again, I'm probably giving the player base too much credit on that last point. You put a situation where a Hero is better than a NL, and I'd bet the typical players would STILL rather have a team full of NL than Heroes. It's funny that you guys talk about Heroes winning at the arms, because the real winner there is Mages and they're not even allowed entry in many groups' runs.
