Is Disney Trying to Buy NEXON?

I really hope Disney doesnt buy Maple D; They'll make it even more oriented towards younger children (12~15) and there would probably be more showa-type nerfs and censors.

Honestly, how can you make this game any more geared towards 12~15 year old kids? It already is geared towards them. Are you expecting our next patch to contain a "massive bloodfest" option?

No, you aren't. Disney won't gear this game anywhere. Disney owning it would just mean more money being pumped into it with the possibility of Disney World Tour events, Disney related in game events, and Cash Shop items.

This is an excuse for Cody to give us our precious theme park. Quit your crying.

What's that? The only negative attribute I heard mentioned was the poor chat system in ONE of their games. Do you not consider Disney IP events, items, and areas to be a positive? You wouldn't like to be able to equip a "Hercules's Sword" or use a "Lilo's Surfboard"? You wouldn't like to do a quest for a Captain Jack Sparrow NPC? You wouldn't like to have Disney World in the World Tour?

I'm neutral on this topic, because:

The good:
-Disney taking over could mean more events
-Better GMs
-Better overall management
-Better customer service (yay!)

The bad:
-Making the game looking even more retarded and more childish than it already is. MapleStory is already being criticised for looking extremely childish, and having Disney character NPCs in it just proves everyone's points. "Oh hahaha, what kind of MMO has 'Goofy' and 'Donald Duck' as an NPC?!".

Of course, keeping in mind that one of the better RPGs was made by Disney (along with SquareEnix iirc?) was Kingdom Hearts. But everyone knew it was coming, and it was to be expected. I never liked it, some of my friends does, and thus is my point. It's all very opinionated depending on your standpoint.

Kingdom Hearts was successful because they incorporated FF characters (FF was ALREADY extremely popular, at that). Also, a lot of things in Kingdom Hearts was based on Final Fantasy.

Maple, however.. is something entirely different. <_<

disney is just as popular, just a completely different market with alot of varying content. Considering most of the worlds were inspired by disney films. It would be totally wrong to credit the success to just the FF content

Whether it is a sign of my immature or not isn't up for you to debate criticise. I never said that I dislike everything about Disney, I just dislike most of the aspects of it. In fact, the only Disney-related thing I was slightly interested in was Kingdom Hearts, not so much that it was because it was FF-related, but more because it is:

-an RPG

I didn't liked it that much though.. (Yes, I have tried a KH game, the one for the GBA, I believe I was half-way through, or more). Then again, this is just my opinion, and it shouldn't really matter to most of the gamers here.

Disney had nothing to do with TWEWY. TWEWY was just produced by the same company that made KH:CoM.

i know square-enix has the rights to all the anime characters of kingdom hearts, but if somehow they managed to implement the heartless into maple........ That would kick so much ass.

An indirect investment means that Nexon owns and operates the game, while Disney slap's their logo on it and reaps some of the profit. The idea is that Disney's initial investment, and its popularity would bring Nexon enough money to offset the profit that Disney would take from the game.

You'll probably see ads on the MapleTV, and there would probably be event items (if that).

On the topic of MapleTV, I always thought that would be a great way for Nexon to make a ton of advert cash, putting some animes on it. And like when you click the TV a message comes up 'would you like to go to this ad's website'. It wouldn't effect us playing the game, and it'd bring more money in.

Anyways, in no way would the game change. If anything Disney would just pump a crap load of cash into MS, which god knows Nexon can use.

Disney would also higher more GMs and Customer Services. If anything bad happens in MS, it will reflect negatively on Disney, thus I'd expect them to implement better hacking prevention, as well as offering more content faster to entice new users. On that note, you would probably expect things like increased compatibility with Vista to draw more base, and possibly even Mac support (as they did with TT).

The difference between MS and TT is that MS is a well established game before Disney [would] take it over, while TT was Disney ground up. Disney couldn't mess much up without upsetting the players, which would be bad moreso for them then us.

If anything Disney would just pump a crap load of cash into MS, which god knows Nexon can use.

LOL, Nexon do not need the money...at all.

They need to USE the $250mill+(that was in 2005!) they get a year on the game, instead of it going into the owner's pocket.
