Yeah I can't study without studying. I have a large formula.

While studying - Korean Pop, Metal, Classic Rock.
While playing FPS games - Classical and Orchestral
While playing fighting games - Japanese Rock
While playing Puzzle Games - Classical, Korean Pop Vocaloid.
While lurking the interwebs - Everything.
While doing homework - Korean pop and Vocaloid.
While at school in computers class - Korean pop and Vocaloid.

I do, I can't study without some sort of self-made noise. I get sleepy and drift off while studying in silence.

Depends on the type of stuff I'm doing, a big no no for stuffs that requires remembering, it helps when doing numbers. Although I never get how loud metal or screamo can actually helps concentration.

No. I cannot focus on work while listening to music.

This, though complete silence doesn't work either. I usually need some form of white noise, like mindless background chatter, machine humming (like a refrigerator), or endless nature sounds (rainymood.com is my god).

Every now and then, though, I'll listen to classical music to help direct my flow of thought.

Can only listen to instrumentals when doing stuff that I gotta work with words like English assignments and such. If there are words it gets in the way of my remembering things. Other than that, I'm okay with pretty much anything else while doing math.

I go to SimplyNoise, select brown noise and set oscillation to low.

I will operate fairly well with classical/movie soundtrack/canto-pop for about half an hour, then subsequently end up focusing on the music instead of my notes...

This. I have to hear my own mumbling to keep my train of thought going.

Why yes. I listen to Classical music. I can't stand complete silence.

when i'm not listening to music i'm almost always hearing it in my head. I have entire albums that i really like memorized more or less. so that i can essentially hear them without hearing them.

This. Unless it's something I actually want to study.
