The article just talks about how they(nexon Korea) would be interested in Disney wanted to buy them up.

Doesn't mean anything about gutting the company for its licenses.
The interest is there as Disney is looking for a means to expand its online presence(toontown blows, mostly because its p2p). But there are good signs, primarily in the fact that they are turning out to be somewhat competent publishers(PotC online, Torok, Dirt).

Its nothing to worry about, if anything you might see faster deployment of "the good stuff". Especially when you got John Lasseter doing a kick ass job.

Why is it that everyone thinks that if Disney bought Nexon that the game would be ruined? It would be the same employees working on the same content, but probably improved.

The same people who currently do the work of updating patches would do it under Disney as well. The only difference is that the folks making big cash would be Disney share holders instead of Nexon CEOs.

And if Disney did push Disney IP content into the game, it would probably be in the form of event equipment, cash equipment, or a special area along the same vein as World Tour.

Personally, I think this would be pretty good. Don't think it's anything more than speculation at this point though; as far as I've heard, neither party has even put forth an offer or even met with the other to discuss the possibilities.

ps incidentally, can anyone give any sort of qualitative value on Disney's GM ingame presence in its current properties?

I know square-enix has the rights to all the anime characters of kingdom hearts, but if somehow they managed to implement the heartless into maple........ that would kick so much ass.

Probably the main reasons why people are worried are:

1. Disney channel is awful now, and
2. Toontown has a horrible chat system with which you can't even carry out a normal conversation.

Back when I played TT like 3~4 years ago, and I played for a good year or two, I saw no GMs at all. None. They only ban people based on reports they get from others, and ban them from their database. ._.; I hope, that if this does happen, it doesn't turn out like TT GMs... -_-

I really hope Disney doesnt buy Maple D; They'll make it even more oriented towards younger children (12~15) and there would probably be more showa-type nerfs and censors.

Heh, you guys worry too much. I could see this being a decent business venture, especially considering the money that such a huge company would bring with them. Imagine: GMs who actually DO WORK!!! More events possibly?

And there IS the possibility of them "nerfing" things, but i somehow doubt that. This sort of game isn't that far outside Disney's scope as it were. Besides, I highly doubt they'd do much to MS, it has too big of a following.
