Talking to my friend today about it to show how many hypocrites I have to deal with on a daily basis-

"Yeah, she's performing at Anime Expo as a musical guest. They CGI her onto stage using both holograms and transparent screens while a band plays beside her and sometimes the singer is actually in the back while her voice is synthesized live. It's really interesting when you think about it"

"Yeah, well everyone has different tastes and things. You like the Gorillaz don't you?"

"Well it's f'ucking stupid that they performed with Madonna the same way huh? It's not like people pour thousands of dollars into seeing them live or anything right? They are spending money for the experience of seeing something they enjoy live.

No at a concert you can actually meet the person and get their autograph.

No, at a concert you're there to listen to the singing. An autograph is a bonus. And who is to say there won't be autographs at this thing?

I wouldn't even be skeptical if people were going to the expo for anime but at least two people in this thread said they bought tickets when they found out this was happening. Doesn't make sense to me.

Well, I meant my first comment to respond to the artistic criticism out there that Miku is the equivalent of a computer replacing real singers. It's just that, in my opinion, Miku is to real singers as a synth is to a grand piano.

And to the second comment, I mean that there's someone literally singing behind the autotune, while Vocaloid music is built from the lyrics up.

Just for the record, there are other concerts, usually 5~10 big ones with tickets. So far only ones announced have been miku and kalafina, which me and my brother both have tickets to. I wanna go more just to see what it's all about.

July 2nd, saturday. Event runs from july 1-4 so it's the 2nd day. You pick up pre-order tickets on june 30th, that thursday right before. If you wanna save yourself some headache, get there really early. If you get there when they open up pick up, you're gonna have to wait in line about 3~5 hours. I'm not 100% sure how concert tickets will work, but I know when I got some last year after my friends, we were seated differently while they were all seated together, as a first come, first served basis. Either the seats are first come first serve when you go and pick them up in person, or they're based on who bought tickets online first.

Yes, live music is good (wasn't aware there would actually be any, thought it would all be synthesized via computer like the girl) but a major part of the concert experience is the excitement of being in the presence of the real person and perhaps even connecting with them for a moment.

When it comes to a concert like this, there's also getting to know like-minded people who are interested in the content. It's like going to an expo.

I can understand the argument from someone who is thousands of miles away. I'm, however, 45 minutes away. So it's not as big of a deal to me as it is to others. I would not see this if it were in San Francisco or something like that which is 8 hours away. So in that sense, I agree with you Sarah. But I'm not gonna sit there and question someone because they want to travel out a little ways to go see something they really enjoy.

So if you want to be with your friends in adjacent seating, you'll both need to be in line with each other. I think you misunderstood what I said about the thousand miles. I was stating that the artist may as well be a thousand miles away, not that traveling a thousand miles to see something was bad. I HAVE traveled long distances to see a live show and find the experience (based on the previous reasons I've provided) to be entirely worth it.
