New thread, since I think old one is gone. Can't seem to find it. Anyways, purchased the latest issue of:

..and got an exclusive Rewrite figurine inside. Pretty cool. Think it costs around 20 USD or so, for the mag and s&h. Forgot.

I should really dust off my stuff too, been a bit lazy at that. Sowwy.

Next month, I get my Beach Queen ver Kousaka Kirino figurine around late May. -shrug-

I just started collecting/getting into figure collecting, and I was wondering if anyone could give me some general background info that would be good to know.

e.g. I looked through the other thread, and came across a lot of "terminology" for different figurines. Revoltech, PVC, nendoroids, to name a few. I got some information on them but not too much that would be beneficial.

I dunno if magazines count, but I had every issue of Shonen Jump since they first released till 2009 (mainly because my parents got fed up paying for the subscription)

Revoltech and Nendos are more like different line-ups of figurines. I can't really explain this well, I'm probably explaining it wrong. I'll do this later on. Lazy.

EDIT: Revoltech are similar to figma, but significantly better (imo). You can take off parts and re-attach them with parts from other Revoltech figures. Spidey can provide examples of this. They're basically figurines with joints.

Nendoroids are miniature figures, basically.. imagine 'chibi'. Large head, small body, made to look adorable.

They also have interchangable parts that can be used to change the pose or customize around with them. For an example, you're given different arm/leg parts to allow for different poses and you're also given somewhere from two-three (default one that comes on the face already, and from what I've observed, usually 1 or 2 other faces are also packaged in). You are certainly allowed to change up the parts between different Nendoroids just like Khoi mentioned you can do for a Revoltech.

I forgot about that, yeah, parts are interchangeable for Nendos too. I just never did that because I only have 1 Nendo (BRS).

It'd be the first PG (Perfect Grade) I've ever done and probably ever do since it's so damn expensive.

I read that "take care of PVC" article in the other thread, and learned some other stuff from it already. I think really right now the only types of figurines I know of are nendoroids and "PVC figurines" (Not sure if that's the correct name for them). I've heard the word figma a few times but not exactly sure what type that is referring to.

I got a couple of gundam model kits from AX last year. I didn't know how expensive the perfect grade model was but that's definitely gonna be on my wish-list when i go this year.

A figma is a line of figures made by Good Smile Coompany, distinguishable by their posable joints and how you can see the joints. I forget what the joints are usually made out of, but I do know they're sometimes made with metal joints, like in their Append Miku one.

Do nendoroids have ugly joints like figmas as well? I looked through a lot of them and they looked really good, so i'm probably going to end up buying those + PVC figurines.

No, nendoroids are beautiful little chibi-like figures that have above quality features most of the time.

This is my personal favorite out of the ones that I own, just to give you an example.

And although you don't like joints, if you are fond of mech anime, then you probably might enjoy some Revoltech's. (Not sure if this was talked about already in the thread O.o)

I own quite a few (Around 20-25) and since they are mechs, the joints don't really matter due to them having to look like that really.

This one, that I own, is my favorite Revoltech. I contacted someone in Japan who went to a show that was selling this figure (Because it's nowhere in the U.S. lulz) and they were actually committed to getting it for me thus it is my collection

This is a rarer one, but they have simpler ones with just as much detail (I just got this one because 1. I love Gurren Lagann and 2. It's a Metallic version of one I already have). They really are amazing if you like mech anime.

That Yuki is my favorite Nendoroid as well.

And since SAL was asked about... you're a tiny bit more likely to get a damaged box, and it may take longer (anything from a week to ~a month), but it's worth it if you want to save money.
