Main plot point I can gather, some 10 year old boy teaches an all-girls middle school and some sh'it with magic and the boy trying to find his dad.

I rather enjoy negima, despite its....rather large shortcomings. If you enjoy it, you enjoy it. If you don't, then....stop reading it? The series gets much better once they go to the magic world, actually feels like there's a plot forming once some things happen when they arrive.
