So Firefox 4 is out

Just updated mine to 4 and I don't know... I don't really see how its faster, for some reason it seems to be maybe even slower than 3.6 for me.

I like the visual looks and stuff though.

I looks like they took a few things from google chrome but Im sticking to chrome, had too much trouble with firefox.

Is there a way to get the old menu looks back in FF4?

Like the "File Edit View History Bookmarks Tooks Help" bar on top?

If not, I won't use it... I don't like minimalistic noobified software... I want advanced controls at the moment -I- want it...

I've been using FF4 for a few months now. Think I hopped on the Beta around version 8. The first thing I noticed was the faster media loading. To each his own? I'm a junky for having as much screen space as possible, so the well-condensed tab and url bar and the disappearance of the bottom bar are welcome changes. I never have enough tabs open to warrant tab grouping but that's cool. And now that FastestFox updated a few days ago, all my essential add-ons are now compatible and only a few that I like aren't.

I don't see how the new view puts advanced controls any farther from reach than the current set-up, but there you go.

You can. Just right-click on any of the browser buttons (home for example), and click on Menu Bar. It'll show.

I just saw this thread and updated...

I dont really see any difference in speed but i think the layout is a bit nicer than it was.

I've been using it for a while and like it lots. App tabs are great.

Downloaded the Beta around 8 or 9, haven't noticed much of a difference since. App tabs are fun, but I really haven't seen a use for them. It'd be nice if they were open in every window, and never went away until I manually closed them. :/

I use Firefox because it has Ubiquity, and I love it. Nothing about FF4 stands out to me besides it.

Of course it doesn't feel faster, your pages load in less than a second already.

At first I was mad at it for wiping out a few of my add-ons, but now it is sexy.

FF4's RC client been out for 3 or so days now. It's definitely a lot nicer than FF3.

See this button? Before this update he and me were best friends, nothing could seperate us. But now, after I downloaded FF4, he has left me. I hope to see him again sometime.

On the serious side, I don't really like the emptyness of it. Kinda looks like Google Chrome to me now, but I guess I have to get used to it or hop to Opera.

Personally, I've never used that button in my life.

I don't even have back/forward up there, I just have my mouse4/mouse5 do that.

You can right-click the back/forward buttons and see the same thing. And what's wrong with Chrome? (Why would you have to jump to Opera?)

Ah wow, thanks. Did not know that untill now. There's nothing wrong with Chrome, except that the lack of buttons makes me cringe. (Now I just started Opera, I guess that doesn't count. Opera is quite empty too.)

Haven't seen much of a difference performance wise. The Chrome mode looks ugly as fock with that orange square to the left and the grayish blue color (My task bar is at the top of the screen btw). Thankfully there's a way to make it look like the older version (or change appearance entirely).

The "get add-on" page being laggy is about the only inconvenience I have found so far. There's also the lack of easy access to the "delete data" options, but meh. I don't really need it apart from those occasions when someone decides to free the ferrets.


I do appreciate the option of removing the bar at the bottom. Other than that, nothing special.

Firefox button > History > Clear Recent History (or Ctrl+Shift+Del, same as previous versions)
