Black and White recent happenings thread!
Piggy 2.0 Wrote:Holy pomegranate, I didn't know they counted sleep time in this game. Clocked in 45 hours, apparently.

But anyway, caught an Axew and slapped an exp. share on it, evolved my 4 main pogeys to their final form, and I just stepped foot into the 7th gym.

They don't count sleep time. I leave my game on 24/7 and I'm still only at around 14 hours.

Do Genders ever matter? Other than for the Day Care and some changes in appearance.. are they just preference?

Do they actually matter in battle? Only with moves like Attract.

Nothing stats wise changes at all between genders. I recall reading that it's a completely seperate variable for stats and gender. So yeah, just preference, or if you're breeding and don't care, just take whatever has the best IVs.

There IS an ability called Rivalry/something that ups the pogeymans attack if the opponent is of the same gender. The attack drops by 1/2 if the opponent is of the opposite gender.

I know items like Protein / Calcium / HP Up increase closeness, does anyone know if the Driftveil Drawbridge Wings (which function the same way) also increase closeness? Trying to get a Swoobat.

No idea. Honestly, all I can tell you is keep your Woobat in the first slot and spam massages on it, :I

Obviously but you can only do that once a day. Leveling increases happiness too (I already got the other happiness evolution pokemon for this gen just by leveling it 12 times, using 3 items and giving it two massages, as well as walking around with it) but I was hoping for a definitive answer as to whether or not it was worth farming those wings.

I think I read somewhere in this thread that someone said this game feels slower than the other games. I agree with this because it's very noticeable. I think it's a good thing that they are finally taking advantage of the DS capabilities though(the depth and the 3D camera rotation thing are pretty cool). I also like how this is the first pokemon game since blue/red that every single pokemon is new which brings a whole new experience. I no longer have to expect geodudes and zubat in EVERY SINGLE CAVE in EVERY SINGLE GAME there is.

I've always had some kind of bird pokemon end up in my party - my Pidgeot, Fearow, and Pelipper in past games were beast. I'm enjoying Tranquill so far, so I'd say so.

I'm not sure what to do about my team right now - I feel like I don't have enough diversity, but eh.

Currently:
Dewott - level 22 - water
Drilbur - level 21 - ground (and steel once it evolves)
Pansear - level 20 - fire (being replaced by Litwick, fire/ghost)
Blitzle - level 22 - electric
Tranquill - level 21 - normal/flying
Herdier - level 21 - normal

I'll probably replace Tranquill with Archen to give it rock/flying. Otherwise...idk, I feel kind of 1-dimensional with all this. :/

I know, I don't know how my team will play out, or how to fix it up.

Slower as in how? Battle speed is WAY faster and movement speed is the same. The only way I could understand saying it's slower is in progression but that's only because there's a big focus on the story and it's also much more difficult so you can't just plow through it in 8 hours with your starter like every other game.
