So, apparently my accounts at 2 Canadian banks are in jeopardy of being deactivated

So yeah. They addressed me by my e-mail, not my name, so it's not personally targeted. The e-mails are identical barring the different bank names, so they likely come from the same source.

The odd part? I don't have membership at either bank. I use a US Navy bank that has no relation to these at all.

I forwarded both e-mails to the fraud departments at both banks. No idea where this hacker got my e-mail address, but w/e.[/COLOR]

It's not just that it's spam, it's that there's an alarming degree of similarity between the 2 e-mails. Curious if anyone had similar experiences. And I rarely post in Funhouse for a reason - I generally hate that place.

I can only imagine how many people actually respond to these..

They're not gonna personalize every spam email. You just happened to get 2.

I'd be worried if the emails came from either of the banks' real domains - rbc.com or cibc.com. Obviously the spammers registered similar emails for "services" so they could fool people better.

I got one of these.

My friend got one of these, except it was from "Bank of Montreal" and said his credit card was about to get cancelled.

I get those along with the good ol' Bank of Zimbabwe or where-ever the guy is who needs his money "supposedly" laundered to the U.S. Seriously, he should give up. After 20 years that poor guy still is stuck there with his alleged millions. LOL
