Blocking an IP from my ISP?

There's a point where "close friends" have its limits. If I had a friend who doesn't do anything besides playing WoW all day, I would simply say "I'll give you two choices: Do you cherish a real-life friendship or be with your virtual buddies? If you pick the latter, I don't give a ****ing damn about you anymore. I don't consider you a friend anymore. Don't even call me. Don't even text me. Don't even talk to me. You're on your own."

I'm not joking about that.

If he's being a burden to you like the situation you're in right now, then ask yourself: is it really worth being a close friend with him?

Ultimatums NEVER work. Don't do it. Just straight up tell him what you're going to do and DO IT, them tell him that once he shows that you can trust him again that you'll be more flexible. You're just going to cause yourself to suffer longer both financially and emotionally if you put it off. Being tough is HARD but those feelings of guilt sure beat the hell out of enabling him to be a schmuck.

This is a lesson that will either help him for life or ruin your friendship, and if he relies on you so much than it's not a real friendship anyway. You're going to be the bad guy no matter what. Might as well do it right.

You can change the SSID and Password of the router... or there is a MAC filter that can be used. Just find out what what his PC's Network Card MAC address is, enter it into the Block List, and then enable it. BAM!!! He's denied access to the network and internet.

If he sees you as a close friend, he wouldnt treat you that way. It sounds like a one way street to me. The only thing left is how much more can your heart bleed?

Do note that you're supporting his lifestyle by accepting whats going on. Sometimes, you have got to be cruel to be kind. It is probably the only way to save your "close friend", because after a little while putting up with him, I can almost guarantee you will hate his gut and will never ever want to speak to him again, ever.

You can disable the Reset button on most routers to prevent tampering.

really? kinda uh...defeats the purpose of a reset button no?

It's for security purposes where a router can be used in a business or home type setting, but you don't want it tampered with by users who could tamper with the settings and unblock certain applications, websites, etc.
