This is just a scenario that I personally... am afraid of. I am curious to see what peoples opinions are.
In this scenario, your wife is pregnant. She is about to give birth when you are told by the doctors that due to complications, they could only save one of the two most precious lives that are in that room..
Would you save your wife, or would you save your baby?

My baby of course, he/she has much more life to go through than my husband would.

Wife.
You're already living your life with her, it'd be hard to see her leave when you've made all these memories with her. So losing the kid would be less of a pain emotionally.

At first I'd say my wife. But then I read Solarboy's post.
After that I started to doubt. It would really depend on several factors.
How old am I? How old is my wife? If I choose my wife, will I be able to get a new child, or is it game over for children?
I think I'd still go for my wife though, as I won't have a strong bond with the child at that certain point.

Really hard decision indeed.
I would save the baby. Would my wife get over this easily if I chose to left the baby? Of course not. It could haunt her for the rest of her life, for all I know, and she wouldn't be happy with it.
BTW, doesn't this question belong to my wife?

If I lose my wife, then I'll lose the chances of my kid being supported by both parents. I don't think I can raise my kid by myself.

The child.
---
There are pros and cons to each.
Do you save your wife, and say to her to justify it with "we can always try again," which diminishes the value of the life of your child; or save your child, and lose the person whom is the reason that child is there at all, and have to raise that child alone?

Personally... I would save my wife. (I know, shoot me for being an asshole with a new life on my hands)
As much as I would like..... and as much as I would try..... I dont think I could bring myself to let the woman that I love.. die.
A child is a new life, and it has much more time to live and whatnot (Agreeing with above posts) but I just couldnt bring myself to do it.
And I am sure that this would scar my wife. But its nothing that time and caring couldn't heal (I hope).

Wife.
We could have other children, natural or adopted.
Yes, losing an unborn child is hard, but it's not nearly as hard as losing a person you already know and love and share a life with.
(If your question were something like "there's a fire in your house and your wife and child are both unconscious from smoke inhalation, who would you drag out knowing the other would likely die?" it would be harder for me).
As for it affecting my wife - she doesn't have to know. I can tell her, truthfully, that the doctors tried to save them both, but failed.

You're not an pimento, i'd do the same.
An unborn child will not be missed as much as your wife. Think of her family? The baby might already be 'loved' but i find it a bit selfish to take the child over the wife.
But hey that's just my opinion.

This isn't even a difficult question.
The wife has a higher priority for obvious reasons. The baby is clearly a demon sent to disrupt your life so it'd be wise to put an end to it and continue living happily with your sweetie. Then you can try again.

Wife, you can try having a baby again after. I didn't have time to get too attached to the baby yet so it's easier to get over it.

I'm having a hard time understanding why you would not save your wife. The baby has not yet been brought into the world so only your wife has a real connection to it. If you were able to impregnate her once, surely you can do it again and hope for a better outcome. Your wife is a lifelong partner that, in a perfect world, will never be replaced. Her death will haunt you more than the death of your unborn child, albeit it is a terrible outcome.

I would want my husband to save me over the baby. I wouldn't want to die if I didn't have to, however bad that sounds, it's honest. We could try to have another child at another time, too. Losing the wife eliminates that possibility and leaves the husband alone to raise the child who may be scarred for life knowing that his or her mother died having them.
