I say there is no connection between Thiomersal and autism. And the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Medical Toxicology, the Canadian Paediatric Society, the National Academy of Sciences, the Food and Drug Administration, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization, the Public Health Agency of Canada, and the European Medicines Agency agree.
The original article that sparked the bullpomegranatestorm in 1998 was retracted by the editors of the medical journal that published it and 10 of the 12 authors for being fraudulent.

Then why is it banned in several countries across the world?

Clears out from adult blood in 18 days and baby monkey brains in 14 days. I'd say the risks beat the ever-loving pomegranate out of having smallpox, measles, etc.
Oh, and vaccine producers removed thiomersal/mercury from every vaccine but tetanus and flu between 1999 and 2001.
Bad news though, autism rates continue to rise despite the fact thiomersal is no longer a common vaccine ingredient

I read the CDC's site, they say vaccines for children under 6 have either no thimerosal or have trace amounts of thimerosal. Its still there, they just call it "trace amounts."

And I suppose injecting pure thimerosal would you leave the body of a normal adult, but we arent talking about that. We are talking about injecting a mixture of substances into the body, and worse when its a child.

This outbreak is a great time to bring up HERD IMMUNITY!
Yes, vaccines aren't perfect. This is why it's so crazy important to have as close to 100% of the population vaccinated as possible. The strength of some vaccines is not in the individual, but the community as a whole to resist an infectious disease. The fact that this kid brought back Mumps from England highlights this importance in an era when an outbreak in one area can be spread anywhere in the world in a matter of hours by one unsuspecting traveler. When one person is not vaccinated, they endanger the community around them, especially those who are unvaccinated. I am rather alarmed that so many vaccinated people caught mumps, I will admit that. At the same time, the fact that less than two thousand were infected in New York City-population density center of America- and most were all within the same community of people who spent substantial time together (larger than average household size and the majority of cases were in younger boys who went to school together) is testament to the importance of immunization. To compare, check out the graph here. I'd call that pretty damn effective.

That is not how vaccines work. real vaccines give you the dead or inactivated virus so that your body will learn how to fight the infected disease without being put in danger of being infected. This way if you come in contact with the virus or a person with the virus you should be immune. Needing 100% of the population to be immunized to protect those that are immunized from the disease is complete bullpomegranate.
If 80% of the people infected took the vaccine, then something is damn wrong.

Science is built on peer review. That article was built on books written for the purpose of profit by individuals.

If only the Us government and all the agencies you listed where scientific rather than working for lobbiests and special interests.
And I couldn't say much about AIDS (who knows, maybe it isnt as bad as people say? I mean both swine flu scares where complete bullpomegranate. Maybe other scares are too?), and there are points where I disagree with my sources. Also, many sources like CNN, FOX, MSNBC, etc do report facts from time to time, but they mix it with opinion.

Now, I have much more that I could share, but I need a break and can bring more information to the table after I wake up tomorrow.

This is clearly a standard internet argument where neither of us will leave with any changed opinions. I will rest my case on "the benefits outweigh the risks" and walk away. I invite you to do the same.
