The United States of Shame

Old people certain deserve the Social Security benefits they worked in preparation for, there just aren't enough youngsters working their butts off to pay for that at the given time, unless the government actually keeps a person's taxes intact to repay him 40 years later.

For immunizations, maybe I'd agree if I didnt see known toxic materials in the vaccine insert. I just cant see how injecting yourself with mercury or formaldehyde as a good thing.

We have massively more powerful antibiotics than Penicillin now, Penicillin is just substantial for being the first antibiotic. The fact that bacteria has developed resistance is not surprising and in no way decreases the magnitude of the discovery and its benefits.

Very late tonight when I'm back from work I would very much love to start a fight about the massive and undeniable benefits of immunization. I'm a sucker for anti-immunization trolling.

Read again. I said nothing about the effectiveness of vaccines. I was refering to how todays vaccines are contaminated with toxic materials.

And I'm saying to have any doubts about vaccines on account of ignorable levels of additives is laughable, woefully ignorant, and horrifyingly dangerous.
Some highlights from the above article:
Quote:The most well-known preservative in vaccines is thimerosal, which was once thought to possibly be linked to autism.

Although no link to autism or other conditions was ever found, because of concerns that thimerosal could be harmful and because alternatives to thimerosal are now available, according to the FDA, "thimerosal has been removed from or reduced to trace amounts in all vaccines routinely recommended for children 6 years of age and younger, with the exception of the inactivated influenza vaccine."
Quote:mercury has been removed from most vaccines
Quote:Formaldehyde is present in some of the vaccines on the childhood immunization schedule, including the flu shot, polio vaccine and DTaP vaccine, because it works to eliminate the harmful effects of these bacterial toxins and makes the viruses unable to replicate or reproduce themselves. The very small amount of formaldehyde that is left over in the vaccines that are given to kids is less than the amount naturally found in children and much less than that amount safely given to animals in research studies.
Quote:Unfortunately, vaccine additives do sometimes cause reactions, with the most common being allergic reactions to gelatin, the antibiotic neomycin and eggs
Scary eggs and gelatin!
Quote:it was much more common for children to get sick from contaminated vaccines before the use of preservatives

Seriously. Immunizations are the sh'it and people who don't get them when they are available endanger their entire community.

I personally have a problem with all these vaccination-related things, but I'll take that to your wall in a minute.

Just wanna say how it's hilarious that NJ has the lowest suicide rates out of all the states; you'd think that, what with NYC to the north, Philadelphia to the west, the shore to the south, and basically being stuck in the armpit in america we'd be a really suicidal state. Add in that, what two or so years ago we had the most dangerous city in America (Camden (which is laying off police and firefighters in a sheer loltastic/stupid/scary move on part of the politicians)), and are the butt of countless jokes, and if this is still the case have more people per square mile compared to every state, it pretty ironically amazing.

You must love koolaid.

Quote:The National Vaccine Information Center in Vienna, Virginia, has noted a strong association between the MMR vaccine and autistic features. Reporting similar findings, the Encephalitis Support Group in England claims that children who became autistic after the MMR vaccine started showing autistic symptoms as early as 30 days after vaccination. The diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus vaccine (DPT) given at two, four and six months has triggered autistic symptoms, as well.
What did you say about no scientific connection to autism?

Mercury bioaccumulates in the body, and direct injection is the absolute worst method of exposure to mercury. Its far worse than touching a broken themometer, and far worse than consumption.
Quote:The Department of Defense classifies mercury as a hazardous material that could cause death if swallowed, inhaled or absorbed through the skin. Studies indicate that mercury tends to accumulate in the brains of primates and other animals after they are injected with vaccines. Mercury poisoning has been linked to cardiovascular disease, autism, seizures, mental retardation, hyperactivity, dyslexia and many other nervous system conditions. That's why the FDA rigorously limits exposure to mercury in foods and drugs. Some common sources of mercury include dental amalgam fillings, various vaccines and certain fish contaminated by polluted ocean waters.

Then of course, other countries have banned Thimerosal, but not America. This is just like the case of the toxic Corexit that only worsened the condition of the gulf oil spill.
Quote:That might explain why thimerosal was eliminated in many countries 20 years ago. In 1977, a Russian study found that adults exposed to ethylmercury, the form of mercury in thimerosal, suffered brain damage years later. Studies on thimerosal poisoning also describe tubular necrosis and nervous system injury, including obtundation, coma and death. As a result of these findings, Russia banned thimerosal from children's vaccines in 1980. Denmark, Austria, Japan, Great Britain and all the Scandinavian countries have also banned the preservative.

Then maybe if only one vaccine has thimerosal it isnt as bad, but after several vaccines the value accumulates:
Quote:Eli Lilly stuck to its "scientific" facts, but the truth began slipping between the cracks in 1999. After the number of immunizations rose to 12 to 15 per child, the public finally became privy to the possible dangers of thimerosal. One 1999 study revealed that some infants, due to a genetic or developmental factor, lack the ability to eliminate mercury. Trace amounts of mercury in these infants, when accumulated over several vaccines, could pose a severe health risk. Some vaccines, such as vaccines for hepatitis B, contained as much as 12.5 micrograms of mercury per dose. That's more than 100 times the EPA's upper limit standard when administered to infants.
http://www.naturalnews.com/011764.html

Then of course certain incidents make me question the effectiveness of vaccines:
Quote:There was a mumps outbreak in the New York area late 2009 through early 2010 that surprised many because virtually all those infected had been vaccinated for mumps. Approximately 80% of the almost 2000 afflicted had received the required two shots of MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) three in one vaccines. So what are regional health authorities recommending as a solution? A third dangerous MMR shot!

I do love Kool-aid, actually. I think cherry is best. How about you? Got a favorite? Did you ever have those sugar drinks that came in the funky plastic bottle with the twist off top when you were little? Those were awesome.

Quote:What did you say about no scientific connection to autism?
I say there is no connection between Thiomersal and autism. And the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Medical Toxicology, the Canadian Paediatric Society, the National Academy of Sciences, the Food and Drug Administration, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization, the Public Health Agency of Canada, and the European Medicines Agency agree.
The original article that sparked the bullshitstorm in 1998 was retracted by the editors of the medical journal that published it and 10 of the 12 authors for being fraudulent.

Quote:Mercury bioaccumulates in the body, and direct injection is the absolute worst method of exposure to mercury. Its far worse than touching a broken themometer, and far worse than consumption.
I'll let the World Health Organization handle this one.
http://who.int/vaccine_safety/topics/thi...stions/en/
Quote:Is thiomersal the same as methyl mercury?

No, there are several forms of mercury occurring in the environment, however by far the most common organic mercury compound is methyl mercury. The main hazard for methyl mercury is its ability to accumulate in the body and to remain there for a long time. The exposure to this naturally-occurring compound and its toxic effects on humans have been well studied. As most humans are exposed to mercury in some form, WHO and some national regulatory authorities defined safe levels for exposure to mercury and the values reflect exposure mainly to methyl mercury. Thiomersal contains a different form of mercury i.e. ethyl mercury which does not accumulate and is metabolized and removed from the body much faster than is methyl mercury.
Yeah, it's dangerous. It's mercury. But it isn't thermometer or fish mercury.
https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/e...Toxicology
Clears out from adult blood in 18 days and baby monkey brains in 14 days. I'd say the risks beat the ever-loving pomegranate out of having smallpox, measles, etc.
Oh, and vaccine producers removed thiomersal/mercury from every vaccine but tetanus and flu between 1999 and 2001.
Bad news though, autism rates continue to rise despite the fact thiomersal is no longer a common vaccine ingredient

I read up on this New York mumps outbreak through the CDC:
http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm5905a1.htm
This outbreak is a great time to bring up HERD IMMUNITY!
Yes, vaccines aren't perfect. This is why it's so crazy important to have as close to 100% of the population vaccinated as possible. The strength of some vaccines is not in the individual, but the community as a whole to resist an infectious disease. The fact that this kid brought back Mumps from England highlights this importance in an era when an outbreak in one area can be spread anywhere in the world in a matter of hours by one unsuspecting traveler. When one person is not vaccinated, they endanger the community around them, especially those who are unvaccinated. I am rather alarmed that so many vaccinated people caught mumps, I will admit that. At the same time, the fact that less than two thousand were infected in New York City-population density center of America- and most were all within the same community of people who spent substantial time together (larger than average household size and the majority of cases were in younger boys who went to school together) is testament to the importance of immunization. To compare, check out the graph here. I'd call that pretty damn effective.

I'd also like to point out your Natural News article's-I'll just call it-"questionable" source quality
