Any sighting of the elusive Big Cat?

Made an account to help this thread out, caught at 9:31 PM EST, room 500. Someone else caught one at 9:20 PM EST

That can't be right. There is a pattern. The list shows the spawns starting around 12PM and 12AM and slowly getting later.
Maybe the latest patch has reset the spawn times or something as I'm not quite sure why the above SS and post shows a Jaira caught at 6:30PM PST. I still don't think it's random though.

I am a strong believer in Jaira spawning roughly 12am or 12pm. His time is getting later yes, so my belief is 1am or 1pm. It might change to 2am and 2pm, but i have no reason to suspect his time jumping all the way to 6:30. There are people with captures at other random times, but as for hunting a jaira i would stick with the general pattern.

As for whether he will spawn AM or PM, i believe that is random. There have been no reports of him spawning AM and PM on the same day. there is no pattern shown as of yet to predict whether he will spawn AM or PM.

All i know is so far, there have been no reports of it switching within a day. If it is PM, it will be PM for a few times then switch to AM.

Most look like this: PM PM PM AM AM AM AM PM PM AM AM

This does include days of no reports, so it might look like this
None PM AM none PM PM none AM PM.

Where the am/pm's in parenthesis can be assumed to be those times.
(These patterns of AM/PM was totally made up and is not the actual pattern of jaira spawning. Do not use these patterns.)

Remember, this was only one report. If there were a few reports for the 6:00pm time, it should be considered, though most people in this thread wouldn't be looking at 6:00pm. The screenshot was of the rider riding Jaira, and not catching it or with the blue message in the chat box, nor did it have a time stamp, so I'm going to flag the reports as red for questionable. Because the times are so out of place compared to the norm, if we see more reports like this, I'll remove the flag.

Information from the Map.wz file:
The WZ files show almost no information to help us. There is one map, 931000500 (iirc), which lists all the mobs in the map, but doesn't list Jaira (this could also be why Jaira doesn't have a specified spawn location, there isn't a specified spawn location in the WZ file map data). All the other maps link to this map (as in, they are copies of this map), and no mob information is given. The only difference between the mobs listed in the map is that one of the tan/brown jaguars (I forget whether it's top left or top right, but I don't think it makes a difference) has a mobTime of 0, the rest of the jaguars have a mobTime of 1. I'm not sure what mobTime does, but I thought it might be worth pointing out. And no, killing this tan/brown jaguar does not spawn Jaira.

There are a total of ten maps. 00, 09, 08, 07, 06, 05, 04, 03, 02, 01. They go in order as listed. If someone is in the first map (00), and no one is in the second map (09), you will be placed in the second map. If there is one and only one person in every map, you will be placed in the first map, and it cycles like this. Once you are in a map, you can change channels, and you will still be in that map.

Information from the Mob.wz file: (Jaira in general)
Jaira takes 5 damage per hit, constant, similar to all jaguars except the normal black ones. Jaira cannot be KB'd, and he has 300 health, compared to a normal jaguar's 125. For what it's worth, a normal black jaguar takes 25 damage per hit, constant. The most valuable piece of information gained here is that Jaira, once spawned, will disappear after 15 minutes.

Even if you are currently riding a jaguar when you catch another one (Jaira included), you will automatically switch to the jaguar you just caught, so don't be afraid of riding a jaguar while trying to catch Jaira.

Jaira is similar to an area boss in that after he spawns, the first player to enter that map will receive a blue message saying "Jaira has appeared from between the boulders". That does not mean that this text will always appear, people might receive the text and leave, or be afk in the map with a Jaira present. Do not channel surf waiting for the text.

If you have a report to submit, please try to include some of the following in any pictures:
- A time stamp (and tell us what time zone you are in) - Hit Ctrl + Print Screen, open up Paint or something similar, and paste the image into Paint and save it.
- An image of Jaira BEFORE you catch him, if possible.
- If not, try to include the blue text that usually appears with Jaira in the chat box.

Other useful things to include in the report that most people have done are:
- Server/World (Scania, Bera, Broa, Bellocan, etc)
- Channel number (though this hasn't been included in the list so far, they may be added at a later time)
- Room number

If you are just talking about this thread, i guess jairas spawn time suddenly jumped. It kind of puts a downer on jaira hunters out there looking for one cause now they'll be like "crap we gottah be there 24/7 >.<". I'm happy i caught mine before complete randomness started up.

Also, they seem to be so definite with their "facts" about jaira. I really dislike this. The great thing about this thread is people were putting out ideas and saying "this is a possibility".

For example:
They seem to be positive about jaira spawning 12-2. We know that jaira spawn times have been moving forward.
They also say it can be captured outside the 12-2 time frame. We have also noted this, but we inform people that 12-2 is (was) the best time to hunt for him and remain skeptical of times otherwise.

Hey guys, strangest jaira finding time so far, just got on at 7:38 am pst. About 4-7 other chs have em in galicia, hurry and nab them up, gl finding in other servers guys! Gogogogo! =D.

After searching for days I finally found one in Mardia! Time is PST +1.

Your guess is as good as mine. I have no idea what happened to the times after the patch, lol. (Also, I removed the red flag from the late time, it doesn't seem to be an anomaly after all)

Congrats to everyone catching a jaira!

The times have been random ever since the mech update. Before the update it remained in the time frame of 12-2, now its just everywhere. One commonality though is that the captures are still mostly in mapID 00. (Note: i did say CAPTURES, not most spawns.)

Two Theories on this, and it is a theory so don't be bashing me for voicing an idea:
1. Most reports are from 00 and thus most hunters hunt in 00. Thus, less people are in the higher maps.
2. Nexon implemented a "1st come 1st serve" rule. Which explains why if someone is in map00 you move to map01. If there were one person per map, all of which remained still and didnt cc, no one else would be able to get to 00. People who didn't come "1st" still have a chance at jaira but it is just less frequent in the higher maps.

Anyways, we can look at these captures as making jaira hunting easier and harder at the same time. It's easier for some because now they might find jaira within their own time and won't have to stay up all night looking for him/her. It's harder because, well, now he can spawn any time so either you're lucky or you'll have to wait for hours and hours.

i do not believe so. my first jaira i was just afk, looked up and saw it.
I believe awakeplace was reading his book, looked up and saw the blue text as well.

My best guess would be no but its just my speculation

From my experiences, you do not have to kill any jaguars to spawn it. When i found my Jaira, i cc'd to all 13 Chs in galicia and found 9 out of the 13 chs, the blue texted appeared upon landing in each channel.

Err no. Not everyone wants the best damage. Some people just want to play a class because they enjoy it, even if it does the worst damage. I've been preparing for a Wild Hunter since before the adventurer rings event, that's the only reason why my wild hunter now has a crit ring
