Tournament of Picks Mk. 2

I've been getting requests from a few people to start up another one of these, and I was planning on it once I got a bit of time to do so (which I really don't have, BUT I DO NOT CARE ), so here we go. Same deal as last time, sign up, 2 submissions per person, no theme, PM me the submissions along with artist/song title and a youtube link. I may do the same simple elimination bracket as last time, I may try something different. We'll see. I'm considering 3 rounds of round-robin matches, then take the top 8 and make a regular bracket of quarter-finals, particularly if we don't get a number of participants equal to a power of 2. I'm open to suggestions.

Please set this to a specific type of music. Generally Anime will beat everything else in a forum like this and it makes it majorly one sided >_>

If there's enough interest, I might run a more genre specific one to see how that goes if Xela doesn't mind. Probably wouldn't start it up until after Xela's finishes though. Hard enough to listen to all the songs, don't want to add more to that number.

Discussing this with Derosis on IRC at the moment. He proposed the following idea. Because (according to him) the majority of users on this forum have a bias in favor of things such as anime music, he wants to try making this language restricted, meaning that only songs with English lyrics (or, in the case of things such as video game music only from games that came out in America). Anyone want to register an opinion on this idea?

Eh I'm fine with no restrictions for this one, and then maybe try a slightly more restrictive one after this one is done.

Anyway, I'd like this very much, last time I didn't play, but I checked out the thread and it was only VG music, that doesn't really call my attention, nor does Anime music. (I DO play video games and watch anime, I just don't listen to the music afterwards...).

What about no lyrics? I'll have an alternative orchestra version :3.

In the last tournament, I believe there were only 4 entries of the 24 that were from games (Lufia, FFX, Tales, and DFO), so no, it was only VG music. >_>

Also, to address Holypie: I still think that's too restrictive. I'm hesitant to impose ANY restrictions at all, really, but I think the language thing is much less of a major restriction that no lyrics or only one genre. The idea of this is that you submit music you like, not that you submit music you think will win. I mean, if you have 5 of your favorite songs to choose from, by all means pick the ones you think other people will like more. Just don't compromise your own tastes to accommodate others; that defeats the point of this contest.

I'll join once you clearly outline what the restrictions are going to be. To be frank, "lyrics have to be in English or it can't be game music from somewhere that's not America" eliminates just about everything I listen to.
