Only in America >.<

RobMdza Wrote:Sorry to rant about this. But ppl from the US will never learn. Everything that concerns worldwide it's just too far for you to see. ''Americans'' (pineapple the use of this pumpernickelty word) can't take a look further than your noses.

As I understand that everyones complain about their government (and they should, because that's the way democracy improves), you can't really see that you just complain about silly things. No way you can complain about gas prices, since you are used to buy gas at 3.25 u$s I think? (you should compare to ''third world'' prices [suck this third world cock mister]).

No way you can complain about being... one of the richest countries in the world? Tongue

No way to flaunt about... advanced military technology-weaponry? (When there shouldn't be any).

And I won't continue since this will turn into bashing ''americans'' -sigh-.
You can't just come in here and say all that and then turn around and leave. I'm far from a patriotic American, but when you're going to go and throw blanket accusations around like that I'm going to have to step in to defend myself and others who aren't that way.

For one, it's natural for people to be primarily concerned about things that directly affect them. This is true of all humans everywhere. Can you honestly say you're more concerned with the suffering of strangers you don't know than something that affects you personally, for example local water pollution? No, you can't, or you're lying. If you try to say yes to this, why aren't you crying all day for the thousands of people who are dying every minute? Why not cry for the people whose deaths are reported on your local news at night? It's because you don't know them and their deaths don't affect you. It's a harsh reality of the human condition.

However, this doesn't mean that we don't care about the fate of the world as a whole or other countries more specifically. The US is one of the largest sources of foreign aid. Government aside, there are thousands of humanitarian groups in this country that give millions of dollars worth of food and clothing, that send people to help out. The Tsunami a few years ago was a perfect example of this. You can't go and say everyone doesn't care because obviously a LOT of people do care.

EDIT:
Never mind, I can see you don't know how to formulate a real argument, all you can do is pull up random examples without explaining how they support your argument in any way.

You wanna know why the United States steps in? Because we are the countries "Captain Save a hoe" apparently. Not alot of countries care or wanna step in.

I asked about US savior behavior, why did US had to start a conflict in those countries?

Vietnam: Please look up "communism", and then look how well it worked before Vietnam. Vietnam came about through a policy called containment to keep the pumpernickelty communist government of Vietnam from spreading to other countries.

Iraq: I don't agree with this course of action, as well as a pumpernickelton of other U.S. citizens, so no comment. It started out as "looking for WMDs", then it turned into the same thing as Vietnam, pretty much.

Somalia: Too tired to care ATM, don't know enough about it.

Really irrelevant, the people don't make the military choices in America.
Somehow, I think if we did, we wouldn't still be Iraq right now.
But, then again, who knows...

According to this site and this site, the current US debt stands at 9 636 248 689 633.72$. That's just shy of 10 trillion. It's going up by over a billion dollars every single day due to interest...

Iraq and the loan crisis were just one of the latest drops in the bucket of their fiscal problems...

Sorry if I offended anyone, it's just that I can't put up with that. Six months in the US and experience told me that I couldn't understand the way your society thinks. (If I could talk in spanish my arguments would be more developed, sorry [Isaac: just quick answering with short examples due to lack of time]).

which STILL raises the question..."WHERE the pineapple are those WMDs?" :f6:

You can't really base 6 months of living in the U.S. on an opinion. You weren't in this country long enough to really get an understanding.

Well GDP wise we're STILL considered the 2nd richest country...

Can't really base 6 MONTHS as experience in this country, seeing that we have MANY parts to it lol. You'd have to live here a good while to really understand how our economy operates & so forth. Can't really go by what books tell you either...

You're right katiie, but as I love politics, economy, sociology and stuff, the US case always confuses me, just I can't get how does it work.

Apologies again, I didn't want to start a flame war.

Trust me, it confuses the hell out of me and I live here Sad

I don't really want to argue this stuff with anybody. I am an American, I love my country, and it's pretty obvious to everyone in my family that we wouldn't have prospered had we gone to another country while immigrating. I don't really get why people hate America so much, but I guess I don't have to.

There were never an WMDs, the evidence that served as the basis for the invasion was pretty much entirely fabricated and a lot of people in the government got in trouble for it. Though, naturally, the big boys at the top got off scott-free.

Actually I'm pretty sure most of the intelligence in the world is coming from Europe-ish. Look at CERN, for example. The vocal religious people in America are making the country afraid of science. It's stupid, really. <_<

On the first page you called California one of the worst states in the country...have you BEEN to the other states? There's a reason houses are so expensive here <_<
#80
I like california D= )lol at gas prices- $3.8x somewhere here in the bay area =D

I can say, as a student in the california public school system, that our schools are probably no where near the levels of other countries. Most countries have a bilingual program where kids learn 2 languages by the time their in like 3rd grade. We U.S. citizens don't even try until 7th grade+. It makes me sad that we aren't even in the top 20 most intelligent countries in the world.

Though we all may spend time in other countries, we must spend YEARS to understand one another. We cannot base our judgements merely on simple observations and generalizations. We must see through those: take in all that there is- make a concious effort to understand one another. Only then can we truly judge one another.

Who does everyone in the world turn to when they need assitance? The united states. Do I know why? no. I'm just glad i live in a country full of opportunity that I would not have in others. I'm am pro-america, but like all things- rarely is it ever perfect.
