I haven't noticed this, to be honest. Played on both a gaming desktop and netbook. >_>

Anyone else's computers running much louder/hotter after the Dec 20th patch?

Yeah, I noticed that my netbook starts getting pretty hot after an hour of playing. It happened before but not as quickly.

God dammit guys, be specific.
Are you all using the new resolution? Have any of your settings changed since the latest client? STATS, PEOPLE!!!!!! I'm on a quad core 3.6Ghz CPU with 4 GB 1333 RAM, and an ATI 5870 1GB GPU. No increased heat or major issues with just running Maple. Left it on all day for the 2nd hot time event too.

Sometimes it stalls when I Alt-Tab and I'm in windowed mode. Also, I'm using Windows 7 and I'm running it on the larger resolution.
Other than that, I feel no changes to my laptop's performance.

this thread makes me feel SO much better xD
my desktops fan usually runs silent unless its summer. lately its been running pretty hard off and on while playing. i've been trying to figure out what the cause was since the patch, its really been bothering me. it only happens on my windows 7 PC. i've tried all the resolutions/switching and it usually happens all the same. a few times i have gotten the computer to stop running hard after switching back and forth between 1024 and 800, leaving it on the lowest resolution.

pixels to render
before (800x600): 480,000 pixels after (1024x768): 786,432 pixels theoretically, ~1.6x more load

I haven't had any problems but I've been running with sound card disabled still so I'm probs not the best source.

maple is running faster for me since the last patch, i can do any boss on win7 64bits, it barelly dc me( i could stay online for almost 70 hours last week) and it use around 350mb(ram) and like 2-6% of CPU.
my specs are: phenonII x6 @ 3.0ghz, 6gb DDR3 @ 1600mhz, nvidia GTX 8500. for me, maple got way better lol.

You didn't have to show off ur PC specs maikon f3 hes only asking for help, and the reason why the laptops overheats is because of the graphics card i believe, specially if you're playing in window mode. My graphic card runs at around 32C with maple open in window mode and like 1-2% CPU load, try lowering the graphics it might run cooler

thinbear Wrote:pixels to render Only on the render engine... everything else should be the same. And MS isn't hugely graphic intensive (it's just a bunch of 2d sprites drawn at 100% brightness, most of the time) It does have a heavy memory load cause of the sprites, but that's independent of resolution.

Man, this thread makes me think MS will make my computer deteriorate faster or something. I swear if it hurts my new i5 desktop in any shape or form I will be very mad.

I can leave it online for 3-4 hours and it wont overheat at all.

I'm using a late 2008 Macbook running bootcamp for windows XP sp3. The graphics are built in with 256mb of video RAM. I have 4GB of actual RAM and normal specs for that laptop. Literally the second I start maple, I hear the processor and fans kick on and it vibrates just slightly the entire time. Within an hour I can't sit with it on my lap cuz that pomegranate will burn legs lol. I log off maple, wait 2-3 minutes and it returns to normal. Makes me think something icky like a keylogger, but i've done a bootscan with Avira Antivir and Avast as well and everything comes up clean, so that leaves me still believing maple

I'm mainly getting high CPU usage in towns and ch1FM =/ And resolution has no effect in reducing it.
Running a 2ghz intel dual core. 3gb of ram and 512 gb nvidia gt8600

Perhaps try temporarily disabling antivirus as a test to see if that reduces the over heating.

Running MacBook Pro 7,1 (NOT with BootCamp...but customized partitions)
Maple is better for me by far...about 330 MB of RAM used, and about 28% CPU

Running two PCs with MapleStory:
Customized HP DX2450 w/ Windows Server 2008 R2 Compaq Presario V6305NR w/ Windows 7 Ultimate x64 So far neither show any abnormal PC or OS reactions. Usually the only things that cause differing PC or OS reactions are Windows Updates, Driver Updates, and Tool Packages for hardware like Video Cards, and even in some cases, a badly fragmented hard drive.
