Edelstein is a town taken over by the Black Wings. Apparently, the people of Edelstein formed the Resistance and fought against the Black Wings for years in order to drive them out of their town. Empress Cygnus had her Knights join forces with the Resistance in order to stop the revival of the Black Mage.

One day, the Resistance decided to launch their ultimate attack and asked the Knights to help them. Without hesitation, the Empress willingly agreed to provide support. However, the Cygnus Knights broke their promise and Edelstein was defeated, resulting in more severe oppression and surveillance of its residents.

Since then, the townspeople have despised the Empress and her Knights as much as they do the Black Wings.

THE HELL!? Must do edelstein quests.

There is a similar plotline for Explorers! GOGOGO!

I should read quests more often.

My evan got the quest. I think the name was "Mir's suspections"

Ah. I already did the explorer quest this morning on my Ranger. You had to do the quest in order to unlock the quests from all the other citizens of Edelstein. I thought everyone that wasn't a Resistance character got it. Since it appears to be different for Cygnus, Evan, and possibly Aran too... Hm.

Hold on, let me go fetch the completed quest text on my Ranger.

EDIT: You had to do another quest in order to complete the explorer quest. The quest involved getting 30 streetlights to Bavan (the watchman mentions that it was either this, or pay 30 million meso in order to stay in the town). As for the citizens, they wouldn't talk to you before because they wanted to be sure if you were one of the Black Wings or just an outsider.

The Black Wings rule Edelstein, and the townspeople have no choice but to accept it. Because everyone in Edelstein despises the Black Wings, the overall climate of the town is far from happy and inviting. But, since you've resolved the misunderstanding, you should be able to talk to the residents.

That's it.

As you can see, it really has no correlation to the events going on currently in CHAOS! You can probably make a lot of assumptions based on Neinheart's on statement, but there's really nothing that says they're evil. However, were Nexon Korea to build on it, they could use that event to explain some sort of hostile take over of Ereve later. It would need to be really in-depth to not feel like a cop-out, though.

That something that the Knights could barely protect themselves from was probably what happened with the Black Witch during the 4th Job Advancement questline.
Although, this story could prove interesting, provided they don't leave it as is like with so many other quest chains...
